Cheap but noisy

Room was advertised as last-minute price reduction, and was cheap for central London.

It was clean and fairly well kept, but it was in the hotel's basement next to the laundry. Wifi worked only intermittently (but they didn't charge me the usual £5 fee for it). One issue with the room is that I could clearly hear the frequent underground trains passing along tunnels several metres beneath. Would recommend for budget-conscious travellers who sleep solidly or don't mind wearing ear plugs.

A night in the Hallam

Reading the reviews prior to arrival I was dreading my stay, but come on everyone, its not that bad.

I stayed in room 14 at the top of the stairs. Yes the lift was noisy, yes I could hear the underground after 7 AM, yes there was no plug on the sink, and yes the room was so small I genuinely could not swing a cat. But .... the room was clean (ish) with clean bed linen, clean towels, the TV worked and the water was hot .... well the cold tap produced hot water after running it for a few minutes. The location was excellent, as was the breakfast. If you want luxury the Hallam is not for you, but if you want a cheap room in the centre of London for a night ....... it's OK.
