Fine for one night stay
Very convenient for Paddington Station and public transport into West End.
As with most converted town house London hotels the room was small and view deplorable but adequate for one night stay even if the bathroom though clean was poorly maintained.
Adequate stay in the capital marred by painfully slow in-room wi-fi
Building looks impressive from the outside.
A little more underwhelming inside. A reasonable stay, with all the basics there, but nothing outstanding. Main problem was the in-room wi-fi. Painfully slow and inconsistent connection throughout my stay, which kept dropping out completely then coming back, but still very slow. Even more galling was that the wi-fi incurs a fee on top of the room rate. £5 per hour or what I paid - £10 for an extra 24 hours wi-fi, but this didn't improve the connection at all. On my second day the power to my room tripped out, so no lights or plugs worked. Advised at reception to try flicking the trip switch above the door to my room. To no effect. Eventually man at reception had to come up and adjust main fuse box to rectify the problem. Otherwise a comfortable stay. On the plus side my special request of non-feather pillows was organised for me. If you're not bothered about good in-room wifi, then the Royal Eagle is comfortable, if run-of-the-mill accommodation at a reasonable (for London) price.
