Small room, Unprofessional staff.
The room was tiny and half of the stuff in there was either broken, didn't work properly or old and used.
For example, the toilet didn't flush properly, the shower didn't work well (half of the jets were blocked) and the cupboard door (which opened out and cut off the entire room) didn't shut properly either. The large window in the room also took both of us and excessive force to open it, which opened around 6 inches. There was no air conditioning, only a small fan that took an hour to reach it's most powerful setting. The website and the preconceived view of the hotel was promising, however very misleading. The front image has nothing to do with the hotel, but the gardens that are not even near the hotel in Hatfield. And the ones that are taken as a representation of the room are not even close. Unless me and my partner just got really unlucky and had the oldest room in the building. On coming back from getting dinner the first night we stayed our hotel key didn't work, the card wasn't scanning us through our door which we used no longer than an hour before, which led us to have to return to reception to a gentleman who didn't so much has as apologise. Worst was the staff who at 9:30 am burst through the door saying 'Housekeeping' when me and my partner were asleep and evidently in bed. There was no second knock or delay, just addressing their entrance and walking through without apologising. To which they came back at 11 am and knocked loudly wanting to come and clean the room, we stayed for two nights so there should have been no reason for them to have even knocked as all our possessions were in there, as so were we, I thought that if you were staying for a few nights in any hotel you were left until you needed spare towels. The following morning they knocked again at 9:30 despite us putting the 'leave us be' notice outside our door on the handle, to which my partner said to leave us alone again. Luckily we were awake this time. The final evening also led us to be awake to the early hours as there was a horrifically loud banging noise that rang through the hotel for a few hours. We had no idea what it was. The reception staff were relatively miserable and didn't even so much as crack a smile. Upon checking out a member of staff was on the phone and didn't even acknowledge my partner and we were blamed for not answering the door numerous times to the cleaners who wanted to come in, and they claimed that there was no response from within the room, when clearly, there was at least 3 times when we noisily ushered them away, especially when a stranger burst through and woke us up unexpectedly the morning prior. We didn't eat in the hotel but the £8 spent on two drinks is leaving a bitter taste in the mouth now. The member of staff manning the bar and restaurant however was kind and helpful.
Me and my partner make a trip to Hatfield annually for Slam Dunk Festival, we decided to try this hotel as we got a good quote and were optimistic as it was closer to our destination. However due to the lack of any good customer service or quality of typical things in any hotel room (ie. toilet, shower) we will not be making a return trip to this particular hotel. The money we saved left us having a poor experience and ultimately regretting not staying in the one we regularly frequent down the road. There are other hotels in there area that I would definitely recommend anyone else to consider before hand.
when the staff were available they were friendly but we waited so long to get served there
the rooms were comfortable the staff were friendly the rooms were very expensive and the service was awful, we stood at the bar for a good 20 minutes b, the food was tasteless , when we did eventually get served the staff forgot our order and again we waited we had to find waiter and remind him .
when contacting the hotel you are put on a premium rate call then left holding on at 13p a minute not good when they have trouble with your bookings
Thank you for your review. I am pleased to read you found your bedroom comfortable and my team friendly. I am however sorry to read you experienced problems gaining service and with service at the bar and apologise.
I am a little confused at your comment regarding calling the hotel; the hotel telephone number is just a standard line not a premium rate number.
