ST JOSEPH HOTEL (Formerly St. George Hotel)

Great hotel.

Stayed here a few times now and have to say great place. And people who work there are brilliant.

I stay in budget hotels on a very regular basis and can honestly say that I do not expect too much - apart from a reasonably comfortable stay and perhaps a little customer interest.

Everything about this place is poor...needs obvious investment immediately, just to start. The room was dirty (linen was ok and clean) but basic hygiene was very poor - light switches filthy, carpet dirty and worn, only chair in room was a wooden dining chair which was broken in half and perched against the wall so the back and seat did not tip over onto the floor (no exaggeration) - I mentioned the chair at reception and it was received with a shrug of the shoulders and the comment that there were no replacements (& no apology), so I was shown a chair at their internet computer (same style of wood chair) and told I could take that - I then had to carry it myself to the top floor (4 flights of stairs) and put the broken chair in the bathroom as there was no room for two chairs in the room. The shower flooded the floor due to a leak under the screen (I tried to alter the shower head direction in order to assist the flow but unsuccessful) I had to put other towels down to soak the pools (no exaggeration). No excuse for such simple remedy and investment but obviously no interest from staff as my 'constructive comments' were met with a 'don't care' response. Lots of very good budget hotels very close to here - I will not be staying anywhere near this 'hotel' again for sure..
