Perfect for me
I stay alone in a lot of hotels and have no interest in the standard of their room service, crockery, bar facilities, etc.
anymore. What I want is a clean, reasonably well-equipped room, lots of teabags and a feeling of safety. Mulberry House offered all of this in a gorgeous Georgian building with acres of gardens (including mulberry trees!), plus rare breed poultry and waterfowl. I spent over an hour rambling around as the sun went down - just what I needed after a day on the motorway. My room was in the main house, in what was probably once the servants' quarters. This was up quite a few winding stairs, which I wouldn't recommend if you are or with anyone a bit unsteady on their feet. The room was perfectly clean and well-equipped, but more like staying in a friend's old house than 'hotel chic'. The same applies to the staff: very friendly (I was taken all the way up to my room) and warm, not 'corporate' at all, and all obviously proud of their workplace. Finally, the breakfast: served in the garden room, it was the best cooked breakfast I have had in a long time - and when was the last time you stayed in a hotel that offered eggs from their own hens?. Just lovely.
Excellent for weddings average for overnights
Excellent location and very clean and neat rooms , major squeeky floorboards in room.
Mobile phone reception very poor. Evening staff very professional, pleasant and obliging. Suggest you get down for breakfast early as not staffed till 9.30.
