There are many museums and art galleries nearby and within a short bus ride are Sotheby's and Christies, the famous auctioneers. Also nearby are Portobello Road and Camden Passage for those interested in antiques and fine art, and Camden market, a trendy and popular place for the young at the weekend. The hotel itself, is a small, privately owned hotel in Bloomsbury, the district of Central London famous as the home of 'The Bloomsbury Set', a group of authors that included Virginia Wolf and E. M. Forster. Built around 1800, the building is a Grade II listed Georgian town house of historical interest. It was the birthplace in 1839 of William De Morgan, the famous potter. We pride ourselves on the warm and friendly atmosphere at The Garth, and have established a reputation for our hospitality, which has brought back the same guests year after year. The rooms and public areas are decorated with numerous paintings, photographs and prints to create an art gallery effect. The 18 bedrooms are equipped with tea and coffee making facilities and a hairdryer. Included in the price is full English breakfast and a choice of breakfast cereals and preserves.

The Garth Hotel

This is not a complaint but may help the hotel to improve: The room was not particularly clean.

The door closed with difficulty and the (automatic) door-closer was broken. The shower head support was broken.

The staff were pleasant and helpful.

My experience with The Garth Hotel London

My overall experience at this hotel left no pleasant memories.

The room was dingy, small and tardy. There was a shower in my room with a wash basin and to use the toilet I had to walk past reception in the outer room which was not pleasant at all. It leaves little to the imagination. I would suggest a Travel Lodge instead. It was a very traumatic experience for me.
