Also nearby are Portobello Road and Camden Passage for those interested in antiques and fine art, and Camden market, a trendy and popular place for the young at the weekend. The hotel itself, is a small, privately owned hotel in Bloomsbury, the district of Central London famous as the home of 'The Bloomsbury Set', a group of authors that included Virginia Wolf and E. M. Forster. Built around 1800, the building is a Grade II listed Georgian town house of historical interest. It was the birthplace in 1839 of William De Morgan, the famous potter. We pride ourselves on the warm and friendly atmosphere at The Garth, and have established a reputation for our hospitality, which has brought back the same guests year after year. The rooms and public areas are decorated with numerous paintings, photographs and prints to create an art gallery effect. trip to london
got a shock when we got to the hotel as work was being done on the entrance hall and it looked like a bomb had hit it, nobody there working on it though.
room was small but clean. shower room was very small. the shower door couldn't open fully it touched the sink. when in the shower you risked turning the shower off or pushing the door open. found a hair in my beans at breakfast 1st morning. breakfast a little stingy, 1 small sausage, 1 rasher bacon, 3 small bits of mushroom, plenty baked beans though.
Ok for a short stay
Ok for 1 night .
Somewhere to put your head and a half decent breakfast. I wouldn't stay more than 1 night and I wouldn't stay here with my family but for a quick business trip, it was adequate.
