Simply the Guest Awards Winner

Based on 100% genuine guest reviews in our 2012 awards.

Formed from two 14th-century inns, The Harte & Garter sits directly opposite the historic Windsor Castle in Windsor town centre. The property boasts free WiFi and a luxury health spa.

Featuring many original Victorian features, the hotel offers elegant bedrooms with high ceilings and satellite flat-screen TVs. Each room has a luxurious private bathroom and some rooms enjoy stunning views of the castle.
There are 79 bedrooms within the main building and 19 in the townhouse, Goswell House, which is located to the back of the building and has its own separate entrance a short walk from the main hotel.

The Tower Brasserie and Tea Room serves afternoon teas and British classics using seasonal, locally sourced produce. Guests may also sample one of the hotel's fine wines from their extensive range.

Stable Spa has a selection of relaxing treatments. The experience of the Thermal Spa can be followed by unwinding in the post-treatment 4 Senses Loungers, the first of their kind in a UK hotel spa.

The Harte & Garter Hotel is conveniently located for Windsor's shops and restaurants. The River Thames is just a 5-minute walk away.

Very disappointed
Receptionist was cold & unwelcoming and they verbally send you to a car park that costs £20 for your overnight stay so add that to your cost. There are others in the area. An info sheet with directions and options would be helpful! There's a Premier Inn just around the corner so that might well be a preferable option to this one and probably cheaper! We booked two rooms - one for us and one for our grown up daughter - we were given rooms on different floors and the hotel did not feel busy, breakfast was very quiet. Distinct lack of atmosphere.

Perfect location
Really fantastic location - centre of Windsor by castle. Only issue is no car park and parking is expensive! Room was big and comfortable, good shower and nice beds.

Very Comfortable Stay
I had a single room which provided a double bed, although the room was fairly small it was very comfortable, clean and very well presented. The hotel is in a great location, opposit the castle and next to the main shopping centre and restaurants and at the expense of a 5 minute walk you can park near the riverside railway quite cheaply overnight. Would definately stay again.

A very beautiful hotel in a good location
This hotel is very beautiful, and immaculate throughout. My room overlooked the Castle which was stunning. The staff are very friendly and more than helpful when I found my room a bit chilly. they helped with a heater and brought an extra duvet. There are complaints about the breakfast on here, but I have had many hotel breakfasts and it compares with the best. I would recommend it to anyone. It was a shame I didn't have time to try the spa, so I will visit again.
