The experience ratings on this property are grossly overrated.

The location is not good and parking is tight. The room on ground floor was adequate with all needed facilities but too small for our travel needs. The curtains in the room were of light material and did not block out the early morning light (summer time 4.45am) which led to inadequate sleep. There was a pervading odour in the house and room, possibly from the cleaning agents used, which I found mildly nauseating. We had booked for 2 nights but cancelled the second night and found other accommodation. However, I must say that the Manager Nicolai was most obliging in every respect, courteous and extremely helpul.

Not Good Value

I was so disappointed when we arrived at the property, it was like a 1960's children's home.

We were told that breakfast would be served between 7am & 9am, this was on a Sunday and not a cooked breakfast. We were then told we had to be out by 10am so the room could be changed round. My biggest gripe is how they charge £90.00. We felt cheated as we drove off at 9.30am

Clean and warm large room, short walk to train station to get into London, quiet area, easy to find, would have liked a cooked breakfast and did not realise this was not an option when I booked, that said we were well looked after and the owner was kind, polite and attentive.

Handy place to know

The Amherst is in a great location.

It's quiet, comfortable and has a great breakfast. It comes with everything you may need for a couple of days in Reading, tea, coffee, Horlicks light and hot chocolate as well as some biscuits and snacks and bottled water. The microwave is a great addition and cutlery, table and chairs are also provided. Doug was great, helpful and informative but not intrusive.

Fantastic !

A Bed and Breakfast that really goes that extra mile.

Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean and had everything we could possibly need. The managers were lovely and breakfast excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend. Wish we could have stayed longer.

I was blown away by the great care and attention from the staff at the Amhurst, they really can't do enough to accommodate you.

Not to mention just how good the breakfast was, the eggs from the incredibly quite chicken's at the bottom of the garden. I surprisingly quite room considering the proximity to the road!
