Right by the river Thames
I stayed in the main hotel and had a peaceful room looking out over the river Thames.
My room was clean and the bed was comfy. Service is always friendly and breakfast was delicious. Parking good and free WiFi in room.
Room in annexe clean but a little bit shabby.
Ok for one night stay but If longer pay a bit more. Setting over looking river is lovely but hotel on a busy road.
Always a lovely stay and very friendly staff
The place is nice the people friendly but it's hard to find your way around it's like a maze and can can fuse you
Very disappointing experience
Please note that this is the same review I sent directly to the hotel : Firstly permit me to comment upon the positive - the location of the hotel is truly idyllic, which was the primary reason we chose to book the hotel - alas this is the only positive comment I can give, since as you will ready below the stay was far from what we had expected: Upon arrival at the hotel we were allocated room 405 in the 'Waterfront Lodge' - alas, when we entered, the room was basically a sauna...
The problem appeared to be with the towel rail in the bathroom that was seemingly locked on 'full power' - indeed when I originally checked the bathroom the rail was at such a temperature that could easily have caused a serious burn. We duly reported this to the front desk, who politely informed us that the hotel was full, however, and I quote 'there is one guest who has not yet checked-in so you can have the room allocated to him, and we will give you his room (414) - I have to be honest and state that I was amazed at such an approach - I only hope the offending towel rail was fixed. Upon entering room 414, we were hit with the same extreme heat - again the towel rail was over-heating - I managed to turn the heat off and by the next morning a more normal temperature was achieved. The other room facilities were, for a hotel of this status/price, frankly very disappointing. The bed was very tired and in serious need of replacement; the decor badly in need of attention; the shower was, simply, pathetic - almost zero pressure and impossible to use as desired. Sadly, the build quality of the 'Waterfront Lodge' is so poor that we could hear everything from the adjoining rooms (yes, everything..!) with the only benefit that the noise at least blotted out some of the noise of the 'entertainment' in the Blue River Bar. Breakfast - firstly again let me state that the decor of the dining room is in some serious need of attention - the room really did not lend itself to quality dining. As to the breakfast - well, had we received the order for which we paid, we could perhaps offer comment on the food - we waited fully 30 minutes after placing our order (poached eggs and one full english breakfast) before leaving without eating (we had a per-arranged train to meet) - and upon speaking with another couple, they too had had the same experience. The 'continental option' was really not satisfactory with the choice /layout being totally underwhelming. You will note, if you check our invoice, that we did not return for breakfast on the Sunday morning - having been charged 19.90 for two breakfasts that we did not eat (we had one yoghurt. a glass of juice, and a coffee each) and for service that we did not receive, we felt the better option would be to get breakfast elsewhere. Upon checking out on Sunday I was not even asked if 'everything was in order/did I enjoy my stay' - and hence I made no comment at the time - I merely paid my bill and left, awaiting the option to voice my comments in writing. In conclusion, I have to state that my wife and myself were hugely disappointed with our stay at the Thames Riviera - we had expected so much having taken time to read your web-page and we can only hope that these comments give you the impetus to give the hotel some serious TLC and re-introduce a much higher level of 'customer service' to your future clientele.
The hotel is lovely, we stayed in the annex which the room had a balcony and a view off the River Thames, we stayed on a bed and breakfast tariff, breakfast was plentiful with the added bonus of being waited on.
Not far to travel to leopard and Windsor, we were lucky to celebrate the opening of the new bandstand on the Sunday with a free concert. Just down the road from the hotel is a harvester and lovely walks by the river.
Decent Hotel in a Lovely Location
We stayed at this hotel for one night and was ideal for what we needed.
The hotel is situated on a busy road but the location is very picturesque - over the road was a park and the hotel was next to the river Thames. We stayed in the main part of the hotel, the room was smallish but adequate for our needs, the rooms pictured on the website look like they were taken in the newer part of the hotel. There are stairs up to reception, a couple up to the rooms on the ground floor and stairs down to the restaurant so I wouldn't recommend this hotel if you have any mobility issues. We ate lunch outside on the deck area overlooking the Thames in the hotel restaurant, the Blue River Café. Food was very nice and large portions too, the breakfast was nice as well - continental style or a full English breakfast. We hadn't visited Maidenhead before and was pleasantly surprised how nice the place was, a perfect base for visiting surrounding tourist spots like Windsor, Legoland etc. All in all a nice hotel and we would stay here again.
Great hotel and location
The hotel was great, nice clean spacious room, friendly staff and lovely breakfast.
We booked it as we were visiting lego land and it was not too far away, would definitely recommend to anyone and will most definitely stay again
A lovely spot
The room was tidy, the temperature control in the shower wasn't working so I only got tepid water but I reported it when I checked out so hopefully they will get it fixed.
Comfortable bed, no noticable noise trouble. A nice restaurant attached with outside dining available on the river. Also within a half hour of Heathrow airport which is why I was staying. It was an easy run to get to an early morning flight. I would stay there again.
Excellent value Laterooms deal.
