Our room was reasonable, there were some coffee or tea stains on one of the walls and a slight smell of dampness, a previous occupant had obviously taped the curtains closed due to the fact that they would not cover the whole window when closed at night.
The toilet and shower were fine. Our breakfast on both days was very good.
Very clean with comfortable bed.
Nice enough hotel.
Room a little basic and shower produced not more than a trickle of water.
good budget room
Stayed 1 night for a meeting at a nearby location.
The room (5a) was really quite small indeed-a single bed, small en suite bathroom. The shower was small but pretty effective-lots of hot water and reasonable pressure. The breakfast was a big fat full English-no complaints about that!. The room and hotel were clean and the hotel certainly seemed safe and secure. Staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, it was cheap (£85) for a room in such a central location. Fine if you need a bed for the night-not a hotel for a romantic getaway. If I needed to stay in Bloomsbury again for a night or 2, I would be more than happy to return.
Excellent value for money in central London
My first time staying here.
I had a colleague who regularly stayed next door. Chose this hotel because it was by far the cheapest option and I wasn't sure if I would stay over. At short notice, under £100 for hotel B&B is excellent. Room was basic but adequate, wi-fi worked, cooked breakfast was pretty good, and staff were very friendly. No complaints!
What a find! a gem in the heart of the city
Arrived at about 6pm and was greeted by friendly and efficient staff, i noticed immediately the whole hotel was very clean and tidy.
The room was an adequate size with all amenities, the bed was exceptionally comfortable and breakfast was very good. The hotel is in a fantastic location, it is on a fairly quiet street within easy walking distance of Covent Garden and Shaftsbury Avenue etc. All in all a fantastic value for money hotel. Would definately stay there again and have already recommended it to a colleague.
Like many budget London hotels, the Thanet is in an old building, which provides a charm to the hotel, but also means that the soundproofing is not as good as more modern buildings and the floors creak when someone walks across them.
Whether the charm outweighs the noise depends entirely on one's fellow guests. On this stay the noise was no problem and the stay enjoyable. The room was clean and the decor better than many of its competitors. the breakfast was good with a good choice
Great service, small but clean room, great breakfast
Excellent staff, bag leaving facility, good breakfast, excellent location the only negative point was the shower which was not the best.
However, only stayed one night so not to much of a problem and would stay again despite this.
