Only one problem accounted here and that was loss of cold water pressure, toilet would only flush once every five minutes and shower was not really controllable also I think due to this problem.
This problem was reported on the first night to the hotel and yes they changed our room but the problem was still there. The problem was not rectified during the three nights we stayed at this hotel.
What an absolute gem of a place.
The room was spacious and clean. Lots of nice touches that you would normally only see in more expensive hotels. I would highly recommend it
A Peaceful Night's Sleep
Large comfortable room. Peaceful night's sleep.
Staff dont seem like they want to be there and lots of stairs!!
All the staff I dealt with in this hotel gave the impression they really didn't want to be there.
Builders on site started work at 7.45, and the rooms are all accessed by narrow sets of stairs, often going up then down to get to rooms.
A Real Gem
I stayed at the White Horse as I needed somewhere near Hertford and I was really pleased I found it.
Receptionist (young lady) extremely helpful and friendly. My room, 39, was large and had a king size and single bed. All of the little extras such as tea, coffee, shampoo and soap. The room and bathroom had been tastefully decorated to a high standard. The rooms are at the rear of the main building and well away from the road which is not busy anyway, so its perfectly ok the leave the window open and not suffer with traffic noise. I ate in the bar. The food was promptly delivered however my fish was a little overcooked and no tartar sauce. It was a large portion and food and plate were hot. Dessert was clearly out of the freezer and not quite thawed all through. Old Golden Hen on draught beer was delicious. Service was excellent and all staff were friendly. The hotel was in the middle of a kitchen refurb so am happy to accept the food as was. Still miles better than most of the Beefeater, Brewers Fayre and Taybarns I usually eat at. My only con is the TV in the bar which was showing football and i had to sit under it as it was the last table vacant, but then if your into football it wont be a con. I can thoroughly recommend The White Horse as excellent value for money and a characterful comfortable and friendly place to stay. I am a regular Premier Inn user and if I can find places like this where I need to be then these will always be first choice.
We have booked to stay again
