fantastic food but accomadation dissapointing
Stayed the night with in laws after seeing good reviews and it was close to nearby Brewery.
Lovely little Pub with loads of character. The Landlord and staff were very friendly. We were very disappointed with the rooms with regards to cleanliness, the carpet was stained. I know it is an old building but overall it could just do with a bit of TLC.
We had a meal in the evening and this was exceptional, as was the breakfast.so a shame that the experience was spoiled by the accommodation.
Quant location with first class and friendly staff
We stayed here for one night prior to competing in the London West Tough Mudder event (and by the way, only 3 miles to the venue meant no long queueing in traffic) and were not disappointed.
The venue is not one you'd come across by accident, hidden as it is in the Oxfordshire countryside, and it delivered everything we needed prior to the main event. It has a very distinct Celtic feel with Irish memorabilia and artefacts alongside traditional English countryside equivalents, and as a proud Celt, i liked this a lot. Our initial concerns about staying in a country inn with a licensed bar downstairs prior to the TM were allayed as any noise was controlled and friendly and did not disturb us, and the locals at the bar were friendly. A slight misunderstanding before check in meant that a double bed had been prepared in our en suite room but the staff were fantastic and very apologetic and resolved this instantly as soon as we raised it, splitting the bed to two singles. Breakfast in the morning was prepared to exact order and the chef was both friendly and engaging (and you'll go a long way to find a better poached egg). The nearby Henley on Thames is a stunningly picturesque town full of character and history and worthy of a visit. Overall, a very impressive experience and, if we come back to TM next year, we are almost certain to come back to The Swan.
A Frog Went A Courting
What can I say about our stay great food, (huge portions I'd suggest that you only have the main - we had the starters, but I struggled to finish the main and "she who must be obeyed" couldn't finish hers) and great customer service.
Beautiful pub, lovely rooms and fantastic staff.
Quaint Pub/Restaurant a little away in the sticks
Really nice place, friendly locals & staff, Good sized room and made to feel welcome by all.
Only downside was there was no shower, only a bath but it didn't retract from the whole experience. If you get chance even just for food, pop in and take a look I doubt you'd be disappointed.
Nice hotel in gorgeous location
This is a classic English pub hotel in a gorgeous countryside location close to London.
The food was good and the accommodation pleasant and roomy.
A very comfortable stay.
Comfortable like an favourite old tweed jacket. A room with lived-in character rather than the soulless consistency of hotel chains.
The Frog at Skirmett
A warm welcome on arrival .The place is in a lovely location .
Everyone was very friendly . The room was very clean . Towels and bedding was white and l mean white . The breakfast was nicely presented and plenty of it .10 out of 10 for everything . If l come this way again l will definitely stay here . Lastly the son's girlfriend and l share the same name .What a coincidence .
Wonderful location and peaceful sleep
Stayed one night here in the end room.
Lovely quiet location. Nice touches were the homemade biscuits and free internet. On the downside I did think the price was high in comparison to other accommodation I've stayed in. Nevertheless I would go again as the lure of the countryside is strong and is definitely what makes this place special. Slapt like a log too.
the best night sleep
Relaxed place. Welcoming and friendly.
