Reviews - The Frog at Skirmett

3Self Classified Inn Ratings explained
The Frog at Skirmett, Skirmett, , Henley on Thames, RG9 6TG
Nestled in the heart of the Hambleden Valley in a designated ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty', the Frog is centrally located in the village of Skirmett. An 18th Century coaching inn, The Frog enjoys an enviable location surrounded by the rolling hills of the Chilterns, meadows and masses of wildlife. We have a lovely, flower filled, child-friendly garden with far reaching views across the valley, which is perfect in the summer months. The public bar is the heart of the Frog. Entering the Frog through the main door, one is immediately greeted by a large roaring fire (throughout the winter months), which is surrounded by leather and oak seating. There’s a well-stocked bar, friendly bar staff and importantly, because the Frog is a Free house, varying specials of beer, wine and spirits are also on offer. Accommodation. We have three rooms available at the Frog, all of which have en-suite facilities, (please be aware one of our room has a bathtub with no shower facility) and all of which include the fantastic 'Frog breakfast'. Each room has a television and views of the valley. The Frog is very quietly situated and a good nights sleep is assured. WE ARE CLOSED BETWEEN 3PM AND 6PM DAILY. Access is NOT available between these times.

Excellent value for money
The pub is in a small village in a lovely location just off the M40 (J5). I only stayed for one night, but the quality of the room, food and service was excellent, and I would definitely stay again next time I am in the area.

A warm welcome and a very comfortable overnight stay, in a peaceful village surrounded by wonderful walks. Accommodation very good, bed excellent, tea/coffee maker, TV etc. Very good evening meal, from a generous menu. Only reservation - no shower, but a nice excuse for a bath instead.

Fantastic food and friendly service
Booked a 1 night stay with my partner with the aim of having a nice romantic meal after a days walking. From the moment we entered the Bar carrying our cases to be greeted by name (we were a little later than intended) we were made to feel friendly and welcome.
We had a big double room, with nice country views. The large double bed was in fact two singles pushed together - which provided loads of room, but meant the middle was a little uncomfortable -but in reality you had more than enough space to be able to avoid it.
We went through a few possible options in the area before settling on the Frog, (even though it wasn't the cheapest on offer from Laterooms in the area) on the strength of the reviews of its restaurant, and we weren't disappointed. we had a fabulous three course meal with good beer / wine and it was great to know that we didn't have to organise a taxi back afterwards.
All in all a great night away and we'll certainly look to come back in future
