Reviews - Ross Castle Bed & Breakfast

Oldcastle, Co. Meath,
Situated amidst majestic trees in the tranquil countryside, Ross Castle commands magnificent views of Lough Sheelin.

The secluded setting and spacious, comfortable accommodation offer the visitor an exclusive retreat. Guests will find it the perfect place to relax and unwind, away from the stresses and strains of modern life, or as a venue for a private function. Only five bedrooms, all spacious and en-suite, are made available to guests. This ensures a degree of privacy and space befitting the castle accommodation experience.
All rooms are furnished in period antiques to complement the stately ambience.

Ross Castle is situated very centrally in Ireland, within a 45minute drive to the Irish sea or many of the quaint Irish midland’s towns. It is an hour’s drive to Downtown Dublin and the airport and a mere 90 minutes from Sligo on the Atlantic.

Ross Castle’s claim to fame is it’s 15th century past, which still haunts it, as one of the ghostliest places in Ireland.

Splendid and Rustic
We did not know what to expect when we booked this online. Traveling to the castle was an awesome experience as it is located in a fairly remote area. Benita, the manager, greeted us and showed us to our room at the top of the castle. The room was just ok but it is in a castle! So no complaints here. We ended up being the only people staying there and were completely alone overnight in a "haunted" castle. How cool is that? Our breakfast was fantastic and Benita recommended we go see this old tomb close by. We had to go to a coffee shop down the road and get the key. The nice gentleman gave us the key to a 6000 year old tomb. We hike up this sheep path and on top of this mountain get to enter and spend time alone in a 6000 year old tomb with stone carvings on the rocks. How awesome is that!
