Punch bowl Inn, Woodstock
Friendly cheerful staff, limited accommodation as only has 7 ensuite rooms but great for a small group to stay.
Room was large, extremely clean and comfortable and a big plus was the Inn's car park. Great place to stay if visiting Oxford as direct bus service leaves from virtually just outside the door and saves the hassle of trying to find parking. Only negative was breakfast only being available for an hour. Village is lovely and a great place to stay if visiting Blenheim Palace. Would certainly recommend this Inn to all.
Lovely inn, great location
The staff couldn't have been more helpful from the moment we arrived- letting us split the accommodation cost on arrival between us ( three female friends) and giving us advice on how to get into Blenheim Palace gardens for a walk without being charged - through a separate entrance.
Our family room was spotless and beautifully decorated and quiet. Breakfast was delicious and lots of it, couldn't fault anything it was all lovely and relaxing, even had a late check out. Highly recommend as a place to stay and eat.
The Punch Bowl really fulfilled our wish list for our short term stay
This characterful place was ideal in all areas.
We loved the room and had two goods nights sleep in the comfy bed. The Proprietor and staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was good. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Breakfast at the Punchbowl very nice but no veggie sausages.
A packet of Vegetarian sausages wouldn't take up much room in the freezer. Hardly anything Veggie on main menu. eg Nut Roast sliced kept in freezer would be so easy to offer & prepare.
No Local wine, there are vineyards in Oxfordshire. No English wine at all. Otherwise a very nice place, hosts very welcoming.
Nice Pub with rooms
Arrived in a storm, staff were very helpfull in finding us somewhere to park.
Would go back. The only downside I found was the evening menu very limited. Chips and fried food. Although there are plenty of other places to eat.
The Punch Bowl has changed hands
The new owners took over only a few days before I stayed but had already redecorated most of the place.
They were extremely nice and welcoming. My room was large and comfortable. A proper English breakfast and good atmosphere.
I e-mailed whilst booking and also rang before hand to make sure that the broadband worked as a few reviews said it didn't in the rooms, I was told it did but it didn't!.
The TV didn't work also and when I asked pub staff if they could look at it they informed me they weren't technicians therefore can't help. The room was small and the bathroom dirty with an orange ceiling from water damage I assume. Sometimes you were left waiting at the bar for quite sometime whilst the young staff did a disappearing act. So no broadband, no TV, a dirty room and very very poor customer service but in a beautiful village but I would aviod this place. I also e-mailed after my stay and passed on my comments and asked a manger call me - still waiting - like their bar!!!
On arrival the small town looked lovely, stone built houses. The Punch Bowl has car parking. The pub has new management who are busy decorating to a lovely standard.
Room very large newly decorated and clean couldn't ask for more in a room. Close to oxford where we were visiting family. I WOULD use the Punch Bowl again. Super breakfast with very friendly lady serving..
