Adequate
The whole place feels very well used. It has not had a renovation for a long while. The décor was by no means modern and one internal door did not fit. As might be expected at a pub there was some noise from the bar area. Breakfast is a small selection of variety packs plus milk and juice in the fridge and plenty of tea/coffee packets.
On the plus side it was clean, reasonably comfortable and quite low priced.

Lovely place to stay
The red lion was nicely out of the way but not to far from all amenities, the staff and locals were warming and pleasant and made the whole stay most enjoyable, the room was basic but cleanliness was second to none, food was good, prices were competitive for food and drink.
Thanks very Much

Clean, comfortable and simple
Excellent value for money. An older 'Free House' (they are usually privately/family owned) pub with atmosphere and character that has several rooms (9?) of varying occupancy. The rooms above the pub are clean, comfortable and simple and ours had an en-suite bathroom with shower - what more do you need !? We got precisely what we expected. Great as a 'base' for exploring the area and has easy access to main routes. Plenty of car parking spaces. Breakfast is simple (cereal/juice/tea/coffee in room which is stated as such on the LateRooms site) which suited us perfectly as we could eat early and get going. Separate guest access to rooms, so if you return late then no problem getting in. Restaurant at pub serving until 9pm (added relatively recently so available on-line images of pub may look different) so if you've been out all day, it's great to have a choice of real ales and pub food. Noise minimal. I'd definitely stay there again. Recommend you book on-line where you can also check availability.

Tidy shower, comfortable bed. Little fridge with milk and juice in for a breakfast. Ideal. Allowed for an early start (6am) without missing out on breakfast.
Evening meal in the bar was very nice and the staff were all friendly and helpful. Would happily stay there again.

Breakfast consisted of cereals next to the bed, shower was awful, uncomfortable bed with extremely squeaky floor, in desperate need of a re-vamp. Value for money was awful
