Great location in Thame, however the rooms were undergoing refurbishment and although the room I stayed in was allegedly complete, there were cobwebs hanging from the curtains and the bathroom ceiling.
There were also dirty hand marks over the walls in various places. The food was ok except for the ring of fingerprints around the entire circumference of my plate... The manager was extremely rude and could really do with a change of career - my suggestion would be bin man or roadsweeper possibly. Don't stay here.
As one of the few places in the centre of Thame there's little choice.
And I suspect they know it. This was a very so so experience for the price. Breakfast was probably the only thing to write positively about.
An oasis of calm in the middle of a fun-fair!
As I approached the hotel through a busy fun-fair, I was full of trepidation as to how noisy my room would be.
Though the hotel had emailed me and warned of the annual street fair. But I need not have worried, amazingly hardly a sound could be heard, despite the fair only being yards away. My room was tucked away at the back.
The evening meal was good, as was the breakfast. Quibbles: 1. The toiletries had a shampoo, but no conditioner. I bought some locally and then left it by mistake. 2. The corridor outside room was pitch black and made finding the room challenging. 3. Couldn't work TV, only found Magic radio. Resorted successfully to Iplayer on Ipad.
Could not fault the room and the helpfulness of the staff but the breakfast was awful.
Great potential, sadly not delivered!
Superb welcome at reception.
Encounter with the manager along the corridor short, sharp & rude. Room lights turned on & off as they chose. The shower continued to run on & off for sometime after use. Breakfast superb. Exit receptionist pretty rude & argumentative. Through e-mail my nights had been reduced by one & yet the price for 1 night confirmed in this e-maul conversation was apparently wrong & made to pay more than advertised on the website. Leaving a poor taste in my mouth. Adding to the second day of smelling the redecorating paint smell from the corridors!
Pleasant stay in Thame
Very old building with quirky features inc uneven floors.
Nice location in centre of Thame. Had pleasant stay with clean, comfortable bed and good breakfast. My only concern was the bath, which although looked nice was a corner bath and raised up with steps which made it a bit precarious when getting out. Staff pleasant and helpful.
