Crown Hotel Brackley

The hotel was a lovely old building which was very clean and tidy, our only criticisms are that the bed was old and uncomfortable as I could feel a spring coming through the mattress, also no toilet roll holder.

The radiator was removed and the pipes just left in the bathroom. We couldn't have the breakfast in the morning because my husband was having an operation at Banbury hospital and we had to be there at 7.30 so the receptionist kindly brought us a continental breakfast the evening before which was very kind of him. We would stay again provided the bed was better.

Poor experience

Room - the mattress was the most uncomfortable we have EVER slept on with springs sticking almost through the cover.

A dribble from the shower. Food - my Portuguese fish stew was very nice but everything else we and our two friends had was below par. Breakfast not served till 8 am which was too late for our plans. The "continental" breakfast put in our room was unpleasant. All the surfaces through the hotel seemed sticky from the bar to the dining tables to the tables in the snug. E mailed my comments to the hotel but no reply. Staff all very pleasant and helpful though. We are well seasoned travellers and are quick to praise and seldom fuss when we are mildly disappointed. The fact I am driven to even bother to write this is an indication if how poor our stay was at the Crown. It's a great shame as it's a lovely old building let down by lack of care and attention. If you do choose to stay here get a room away from the High St - very noisy till all hours. Our one and only visit......

Crown Hotel Brackley

The Crown Hotel Brackley is ancient.

So do not expect things to be level square or even upright. If you are OK with that, this hotel is fantastic. Rooms are clean with a Shabby-Chic theme. Ours had a new bathroom. Food was excellent.

Excellent location

For excellent location and friendly service this is the place.

The hotel is a little bit tired, and I feel slightly over priced because of this. The beds aren't the most comfortable and the kettle didn't work, but any issues the staff were happy to help if they could.

Crown Hotel Brackley

Excellent quality rooms and friendly customer service.

I would stay here again. One downside is parking, but it's the same as a lot of hotels.

Room on top (2nd floor) approached by narrow and steep stairs.

No lift. Overlooking town square with noise late into evening. Not suitable for senior citizens.

Crown Hotel Brackley

Helpful staff.

Good evening meal and breakfast. Only one downside - a little offputting with group of 3 or 4 people smoking outside the entrance door whenever we went in or out.

Crown Hotel Brackley

Only 2 staff seen , receptionist and barman and they multi tasked to waiter, cleaner etc.

The hotel is clean, but old and mismatched. Little things like blocked toilet reported, this was dealt with by barman . Maybe receptionist , but then didn't action no toilet roll in any of 3 loos. So room still out of order and then fish cake on menu turns up to be tinned salmon with cold lumpy mashed potato served to plate with an ice cream scoop.... Not very appealing visually. Also 1 main meal for adult was totally forgotten from order ( 5 adults and 2 children at sitting ). Booked for bed and breakfast, following previous evening meal decided to skip breakfast and get 1st train back to London so left by 7.55am. Also stayed in coach house outside hotel beside a large car park for Waitrose and the entrance door was constantly left a jar... Security poor
