Ive stayed in many budget hotels, as my friends and family live all over place, and this hotel is now a firm favourite for my own top ten hotels!.
I dont usually find anything to rave about from my one or two night stays, but The Clifton made a very positive impression on me!.
•The price i paid was very reasonable in comparrison with other local hotels, i used a search engine & this was very competitive.
•The staff were really professional and friendly upon arriving and being welcomed as a really valued customer and not just 'another anonymous booking'.
•The room was really appealing, crisp white linen with a fabulous coordinating colour scheme and multiple soft lighting options, that gave me a warm sense of luxury.
•The ensuite was of a very high end style, the power shower was envigorating, i didnt have time gor a bath (unfortunately).
Over all, very clean place inside with well maintained grounds, i am genuienly looking forward to staying here again!!

There was no hot water for a shower and they never put the heating on when they was informed they said they will look at the boiler then came back saying I dont know what's wring with it but it's on and should be working.
'Clearly it wasn't' I upgraded to a double plus room as there was 2 of us here but only one cup to have tea. As it wasn't being resolved I was told I'd have a full refund. And it will be refunded to my card. A week passed and I phoned them up to which I was basically called a liar and the night manager never said he'd refund me. that's one way of shutting up an unhappy customer for the stay. 2 weeks later still no refund £70 for a cold bed n cold shower. I was told I'd have a 50% refund the last time i spoke to them. And will do it straight away anyone in this position get it sorted before you leave. Disgraceful will never recommend it the night manager needs managing and a lot of training,
in need of a major refurbishment
Hotel is dated and in need of a lot of work to bring up to date.
The bed was old and uncomfortable it creaked so much it was impossible to sleep
Excellent value for money, customer service very good, had a four poster bed and a bathroom to die for including a jacuzzi bath and a strange chrome square set flush into the the bathroom wall.
Thought it was the remote panel for the jacuzzi, turned out to be a TV which amazed me. Especially when it was £65 for the night. If i was in the area again, I would be staying right here.
Having just seen the options below I must say I only stayed the one night and was at a wedding that day and evening so am not aware if it is good for Groups of friends, city breaks etc

If I visited High W again I wouldn't think twice about staying here again.Yes ,a lot of contractors use it,but in fairness,you wouldn';t know they were there,Danii wasx ace and friendly,The S.African gent who's name eludes me was funny,friendly and all in all a brilliant stay.Left well relaxed.
Room nowhere near as advertised, carpets very dirty
Upon arrival we were given room key, I had booked 4 poster bed with Jacuzzi bath, tv in bathroom and flat screen tv in bedroom.
The room we were given had no bath at all, a double bed not 4 poster and a very chunky tv. We were not told about this by the receptionist but when I informed them of it she simply said there had been 'a problem with room 2'. She said we were in an 'executive room' that was therefore the same price. Totally unsatisfied especially with no bath as I have a six month old baby. The stair carpet up to the rooms had clearly not seen a hoover recently, the receptionist seemed more bothered about being outside smoking than assisting, resulting in a very unpleasant stench of tobacco and what I will call related products in the reception area.
