100% would recommend it to a friend
I could not ask for a better experience.
Albeit arriving early and hence my room was not ready, I was able to change clothes easily and head out for the day. Upon my return not only was my room ready but the receptionish had taken my bags (all 4 of them!) to my room. The reception team could not do enough for me. It was a pleasure to stay there - Thank you. Breakfast both mornings was a buffet style of good quality - both hot and cold together with tea/coffee and juice. More than enough to set you up for the day!
Exceeded all expectations!
We've just returned from a 3 night stay at the Golden Wheel in February and it was great.
First I was surprised by how close it actually was to the castle. It is halfway up a hill but I found that was a benefit as the journey to the top was already halved for you. This side of the river in Prague was definitely the side for us. Very oldy worldy compared to the old town with more character and less hassle. There are plenty of places to eat and drink within walking distance and we'd recommend a short walk (uphill) to the monastery for excellent food and drink. Saying that though we found the walk into the Old Town over Charles Bridge easily doable and there was no need for any public transport/taxis for ourselves. The hotel itself looks very small from the outside but don't let that fool you. The rooms are large and airy and they have a decent sized bathroom. There is a free safe in the room along with tea and coffee facilties and a reasonably priced mini bar. All the rooms and halls are nicely decorated with a mixture of old and new (look up to the painted ceilings) and there was even a computer with internet access outside our room although we did not use as we connected to the free wifi. We ate breakfast in the cafe each morning and there was the usual cold meats and cheeses with a variety of breads along with croissants and some type of sausage/egg as the warm option.
Overall we were very satisfied with this hotel for the price we paid and would stay here again if we are ever back in Prague.
