I have stayed at the Savoy before, and I will stay there again.
I like the place. The only comments I have are concerning the firmness of the single bed's mattress (so hard!) and the creaky floorboards - not just in my room but also from the room above.
overall, not a bad stay
Pro's: location, friendly/efficient staff, good breakfast, quaint Art Deco feel, value for money.
Con's: unable to get on the hotel car park, noisy extractor duct right outside bedroom window, bedroom in need to redecoration, small bathroom (& no bath)
The hotel looked very impressive from the outside. Inside it appeared very art deco. It is situated on the sea front, just about midway between North Pier and Bispham. Whilst there is a fair walk into town, there is a tram and bus stops right outside the hotel, which is good. We could not get on the hotel car park, it was full (one of the reasons we chose this hotel was that it had it’s own car park) It was a Saturday in April, maybe mid week, one might have better luck. The receptionist was pleasant on arrival (but her smile slipped slightly when we mentioned we could not get on the car park, she asked us who we booked with and when we said Laterooms, she said it does mention “limited space” on the Laterooms website,)
The wording on Lateroom’s website says “Having just completed a multi-million pound refurbishment, all 145 stylishly decorated bedrooms include Telephone, TV, Hairdryer and Tea & Coffee making facilities. Many of the rooms offer Sea Views and Spa Baths”
There was nothing I could see about limited parking space. The room was adequate, if in need of redecoration, with a very comfortable bed. There was a small bathroom having only a shower cubicle, toilet and sink. The toilet was right in the corner, almost up against the wall (if one was of ample proportions then one could see it being difficult to sit down properly). The room overlooked the back (no sea view) and there was noise from what appeared to be a number of 2 feet diameter extractor dusts coming up from the kitchen. Fortunately the noise stopped by mid evening, only to start up again just after 6.00 AM on Sunday morning. The breakfast was excellent with pleasant and efficient staff and a good selection of hot and cold food. The two staff carried out front desk greeting, clearing of pots and cleaning of vacant tables with expert precision. Checkout was very efficient.
