Generally excellent mock-alpine hotel experience. I love the mid-to-late 90's decor

Very comfortable with a highly desired mock-alpine exterior.

The hotel features an Austrian style bell tower which heralds the hour with an alpine chime - one criticism here would be that the bells should have a slightly higher pitch. The hotel has come out with a brilliant idea... if you want to drink your own alcohol in your room, you should pay a corkage charge ( £1.50 i think)... why other hotels haven't thought of this I do not know...I think the fine they impose if they find evidence of unauthorised consumption is far too low...I think £200 would be more appropriate. I had my own bottle of a very modest Antinori Super-Tuscan and spent a well invested 20 minutes on the phone to reception to summon an extremely helpful staff member to de-cork my bottle. Splendid

In comparison to similar- not great

Booked 2 Superior Rooms.

Twin room bedding had evidence of previous users. Rooms were very 'aged' and looked as though they hadn't been updated for 20+ years - old furniture, bathrooms ancient. Breakfast was basic - for continental. Cooked breakfast was over-cooked - stayed away from that. Parking was very limited due to the Disco - finally found a place to park at 11.30pm after searching for 20 minutes - luckily someone left and we took their space - not good when you have been working and need to get back to sleep. More of a party hotel - loads of groups coming to noise in hotel corridors at 2am was 'awakening'.
