Beautiful setting and very friendly staff.
Beautiful setting but disappointing room
Chicheley Hall is a Beautiful old building in lovely grounds.
The online photos look lovely and the pictures of the rooms showed what looked like reasonably spacious accommodation. When we booked this hotel one of three we stayed in that week we thought that it would probably be the best. We were therefore disappointed to find ourselves in the north wing in a room measuring no more than about thirteen feet by nine. As we were only stopping the one night we did not complain, the room had a very sloping floor with a huge gap under the door, a wardrobe with only four coat hangers, only one bedside cabinet and an overly large desk which only served to make the space seem even smaller (it did have all the other usual things hairdryer TV etc). The bathroom was of a good size with a nice bath and very hot water, is was however not very clean and the basin drain smelt and clearly needed maintenance. Most disappointing was the breakfast. A full English was available but it was precooked and kept none to warm in food warmers. The cereals amounted to choosing between rice crispies or wheetabix small dishes of fresh fruit were available of which my partner and I had the last two we did not see any more bought out. We thought it was most unusual for a coffee pot not to be left on our table and my partner had to go looking for staff when she wanted a refill. Being part of a chain we thought overall the standards should have been better.
