Not what it says on the Tin
when you see the ad on the TV, the bed looks great and that's the only good about it, one chair in a double room !.
one towel for two and no bath towel !!. and check out the shower the shower head is fixed so you can't adjust it, the curtain sticks to you when you are using it, the extractor fan is naff, you shave with a steamed up mirror and we wont mention the parking charges, £7.50 for 24 hours, you have to pay that as the hourly rate stops at 4 hrs, and who stays in travelodge for 4 hours. this the first and last time at the gatwick hotel, we normally stay in the Travelodge Caterham hotel, but was unable to book the days we needed its not been modernized yet, please leave it as its OK with beds it has now and its parking fees are fair
Would not choose this hotel again
Staff in reception were surly and said as little as they could get away with.
Clearly the cheap deal was because the hotel was in the middle of building work but we had not been made aware of this when we booked. The young man pointed at the sign saying we had to pay for the car park and might as well have said 'get on with it yourself'. At the very least cards should be handed to guests with the details. Instead, we had to scrabble around in our luggage for a pen and paper to write it down from a tiny notice. This cost for overnight was extortionate. The room was massive but claustrophobic as the windows don't open to keep out the aircraft noise. Fixtures and fittings couldn't be cheaper and not fit for purpose. Lighting is intense. The food: the restaurant is truly awful. Although the the staff tried their best and were pleasant. Food was dried up burgers and overcooked chips. Room beverages were scant and very poor quality. We couldn't wait to get out. Although this was only an airport stopover it is, after all, part of your holiday.
