Serving an ever changing selection of at least 9 of the country’s finest Ales, some local, all well kept, some very unusual and some old favourites, but we will only serve the best that Britain’s finest brewers have to offer, making us THE destination real ale pub in West Berkshire and probably further afield too.

I booked this as part of my mum's birthday present, as we were going to Highclere Castle the next day, which was just a short drive away.
When we arrived (around 5pm), the actual pub was closed, but we were greeted and shown to our room. We were the only ones staying, but as it was bank holiday Monday, this wasn't a surprise. This is where the amusement started..... Our room was an 'all in one room' with a double bed in the same room as the shower, sink and bath - thankfully, the toilet was in a separate room. Mum and I laughed about this a lot. When we asked if all the rooms were like Room 1, we were told this was the 'Honeymoon suite' - So, if you are staying with friends, parents etc - rather than spouse or partner - best request a room other than room 1!. It was very comfortable though, and the team did everything to make us feel welcome. We also ate in the pub that night - the food was great, and also great value. Breakfast the next morning was also ok - everything you could want was on offer - although we asked for dippy eggs and soldiers, which weren't quite dippy, but this didn't matter!
Comfortable and friendly
