About the hotel
The Ship Inn is in the centre of Rye, at the bottom of Mermaid Street. The pub was built in 1592, originally as a warehouse to store contraband seized from smugglers. It is now a characterful countryside pub, with old beams and wooden floors and various areas to sit in and relax; the sunny end in the mornings to eat breakfast and read the papers, big tables for group Sunday lunches that last all afternoon or cups of tea by the fireplace after a long walk on Camber Sands.
The Ship has 10 rooms, all with en suite baths or showers. All the food we serve is cooked entirely from scratch by our chefs, using locally sourced produce. Dogs, children, even mother in laws, are all very welcome so when you next feel like a bit of seaside / countryside R&R. . . . you know where we are

Sunshine in Rye
Great Hotel right in centre of town and near river side.
Very friendly service and nice atmosphere, parking fine but anticipate it could be tricky at weekends. Unable to open window in bedroom, small room so ventillation a neccessity, but cosy and well decorated.
A Saturday night in Rye
We booked this last minute and was the only place to stay on a Saturday night which was priced in the realms of reality, so value for money and central location beside the quay was perfect.
parking was an issue but where in the UK isn't that a problem . The room was basic but pretty and had all the essentials. The bit that made The Ship was its breakfast, the full English was the best ever, great ingredients especially the home made baked beans which had a spicy kick, loads of choice if that doesn't float your boat. A really nice relaxed place.
