We booked this hotel to stay for the Newark antiques and collectors fair.
I had driven over 250 miles from Scotland with children and a colleague, we'd booked 2 rooms for 1 night however the owner/manager had booked us for 1 room & 2 nights. On realising the mistake the OWNER had made & it was the owner we were dealing with, we were pretty dumbfounded after travelling so far, we did suspect at the late stage of the day (8.30pm) we would not get another hotel. The owners attitude was utterly appalling, he expected either for us all to bunk up in a room too small to fit us all in or for one of us to sleep in the car!. He offered to knock £10 off the room if we agreed to share!. Never in my days of travelling round the UK and staying in many, many different hotels have I had such an appalling and utterly insulting service from an arrogant hotelier. Totally unprofessional and an embarrassment to the industry. The owner wasn't even going to help us find alternative accommodation in an area alien to us. However on me raising my voice and "embarrassing him in front of other customers" he really didn't have much choice. Travel lodge approx 15 miles up the road saved the day. If you are looking for good customer service from friendly people who give a dam - then do not go to this hotel - in fact avoid at all costs!. APPALLING
