Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay here at Bagshaw Hall and Sleep Lodge.

We booked last minute and wasn't sure if there were going to be anywhere good left to stay but luckily we found this place. We had the Charlie Boorman room in the Sleep Lodge (each were named after different explorers) and included a mini kitchen area which was handy. People there were so friendly and welcoming, Georgina was very helpful throughout, and even found us a great leaflet for walks when we asked even though she didn't have to. The cooked breakfast was delicious - you can tell everything is fresh produce and weren't skimpy with the toast either. I loved the dining room with all the plates everywhere. Nice and quiet, quaint and close enough to the main village. Really loved Bakewell, but would definitely recommend staying in Bagshaw Hall.

Wonderful building.

A fine old building and although I had one of the modern lodges it was a lovely environment to be in.

I will break down my scores as follows. Customer service. A Low score as I was perplexed by there being no apparent reception area so there was no meet and greet and I had to go wondering around the place to find someone who worked there to check in and get my key. There is a mobile phone number which is signed but I had no mobile on me. Again when checking out no one was around and a chap kindly phoned the number for me to get a voicemail so that was not much help!. As the people who run the place live on site I went through a door and found someone who told me that I had paid the bill and to leave the key on the bed when leaving. This is a very informal arrangement that left me perplexed as before I leave a premises I like to affirm that the bill has been paid and hand the key in so no misunderstandings occur. I think the owners/manager need to be more available to their customers. The room was fantastic, clean and modern with a high level of facilities. A toaster (never had one of those before) kettle with a lot of tea/coffee sachets and a large fridge compartment. All the cutlery/plates you could want. if you are a walker and self catering these lodges are exactly what you need and I would strongly recommend them. There was a large bathroom area which was modern, clean with a large shower area not like one of those tiny cubicles you get squeezed into in en-suite rooms. After a hard days walking this is exactly the kind of room you would like to arrive at.
