Unexpected bunk beds
The picture of the "dormitory accommodation" that accompanied the Laterooms entry for this place showed a spacious room with single beds.
When I got there I discovered it was actually a small room with 3 sets of bunk beds and 1 single bed stuffed into it. It needs to be made much clearer that that's what you're getting for £24 a night, because if I'd known I'd have gladly paid a bit more for a proper hotel. I got in at 2am and left at about 7am, no doubt waking half the room each time I clambered in and out of my top bunk and used the bathroom etc. Which is fair enough seeing as how I got almost no sleep due to having 3 or 4 other people snoring loudly right beside and underneath me. I felt this room was missold and will be taking it up with Laterooms.
Hilton Chambers Hostel
Told we would have a room with 4 single beds.
Ended up in a room with 3 bunk beds and the room was grotty. Also said continental breakfast was included went in to be told it was just toast and cereal. Would avoid at all cost and paid £120 for the night wouldn't have paid £50 for it of hadn't already paid!
Needs a good scrub!
We stayed in 302 and it was one of the worst nights sleep I've ever had.
If it wasn't someone walking over the creaky floor boards in the hallway it was drunken shouting outside. The room wasn't clean, there was dust and build up of grime in all of the corners. Our blinds didn't shut properly so when the sun came up it was difficult to sleep. The kitchenette with complimentary tea and coffee was absolutely disgusting, there was a pan in there with something which was a biohazard, if you opened the fridge you were greeted with a horrible cheesy smell so I fear for anyone using it. Considering there was complimentary tea and coffee there was no milk. Even the state of the room combined with the kitchenette was enough to make us not go for the free breakfast in the morning because of the fear of cleanliness and hygiene. Wouldn't stay again, if you're looking for a hostel stay in YHA as the standard there are much better.
Cheap and cheerful
Perfect for what I needed, just a last minute one night stay.
Does what it says on the tin
I stayed there on the 19/03 and very pleased with my stay the room was clean and the staff really helpful and polite.
It is a ideal stay for travellers and students alike or just people looking for somewhere accessible to leave your luggage and have a place to lay your head at the end of the night. There are mixed dorms and hold numbers from 14 upwards with a on suite bathroom in the room I stayed in just so you are aware before booking that your our sharing your room and bathroom with other guests but for me this wasn't a issue on my stay as the people were all their for practical reasons and not just using the place as a free fall all to drink and come back really late load disturbing other guests in the room so I was fortunate but on a different night it could of been all so different so its luck of the draw to what type of stay you will have.
Worst experience ever. Avoid
Customer service was awful from check-in, staff were rude, the lobby smelled of vomit.
Accommodation was basic as expected however bed was so uncomfortable we only got an hours sleep and worst of all woke up covered in bites. It wasn't until we got home that we realised we had caught impetigo from the mattresses requiring a week of antibiotics to clear. Do yourself a favour and pay a little more to stay anywhere else.
Friendly accommodation in the heart of the Northern Quarter
There was a group of us who stayed for one night in a private dorm room.
The staff were really polite and friendly as were the rest of the people we met who were staying there. We slept very well, the bunk beds were very comfy and the room was airy, I would advise taking ear plugs as the road is quite noisy with traffic early in the morning. Breakfast being included was a real bonus. I would definitely stay here again.
The room was clean with new bedsheets and towels but with some dust.
Bathroom and toilet was clean. Perfect stay.
The location was goo, but room pretty grim.
Worst night sleep I've had...above a bar or ninightclub. Was told car park discount existed on Saturday but then when checking out Sunday that they'd stopped doing it. Mattresses in need of replacing. I've stayed in many hostels and this was the wors, due to noise.
