Great place to stay

Really nice hotel, room was lovely and modern, shower was great.

Thought I had been over charged by £20 as they take payment on arrival, but when queried they hold an extra £20 in case you purchase food and drink, otherwise it's refunded at the end of your stay. First time I came across this. Light bulb missing in the lounging area of room. Had no milk for our tea and had a towel missing but very prompt to give us fresh milk and fresh towel, great service. Breakfast was great and chef was very prompt in clearing empty plates food lovely. Hot tap made horrible noise in bathroom when on. But a member of staff heard it from upstairs and noted it needed fixing. Overall a great stay and would come back again

Excellent value for money

Positives: Because of previous reviewers' comments, I expected a cramped room and bathroom.

The room turned out to be pretty good ( not the biggest, but more than adequate) and the bathroom quite good (albeit shower only, rather than bath). The hotel had clearly had a fairly recent makeover, and was very clean and pleasant throughout. It is not a big hotel, and there seemed to be a small team of staff, multi-tasking, but it worked well, and the staff were mostly friendly and helpful. Good breakfast. For what we paid at the LateRooms price, value for money was excellent, and it was ideally situated for the NEC, which we were visiting. Negatives: The young lady on reception made no concessions to my deafness, when it was clear that I was having difficulty hearing and understanding her. She had a foreign accent anyway, and continued to talk quickly even though I had to ask her to keep repeating things. The restaurant is Italian, and we ate there on the first night. The waiter/barman was very pleasant and helpful, but I could not have what I requested, because they had no salad!. They offered an alternative, but this turned out to be in a really rich sauce - just the opposite of what I wanted. My travelling companion's main course when it arrived had different ingredients from those listed on the menu. On the second night we ate at a fantastic Fish and Chip restaurant just across the road - couldn't be faulted. Overall a good hotel, but I would not eat there again.
