Wonderful weekend retreat
The Lodge is set in a beautiful location and off the beaten track.
The staff and owners are very helpful and friendly. There was a wedding party there this weekend and the staff prioritised all of us equally. I would recomend Woodlands Lodge to friends and no doubt will book a room there again.
It was ok
The bathroom was smelling bad and the room we got was ok, not good as I expected.
the food was good. the room which we stay was at the corner, I am not happy with the room.
Only had one night but could not fault hotel.
Decoration and fittings, staff and hotel position in New Forest ideal.
Perfect base for New Forest with affordable haute cuisine
A large, well-appointed room with a comfortable double bed.
Appeared recently redecorated, and well equipped, including free rapid wifi.
Courteous, helpful and intelligent staff who were flexible, attentive and efficient, even when the hotel or restaurant were very busy.
The food was superb, and not overly expensive - duo of duck (crispy leg alongside tender breast in sauce), the best belly pork I can remember, and absolutely gorgeous desserts, including a perfect rhubarb soufflé - on an evening when a large party filled the restaurant - the same menu was served in the (much quieter) bar.
An ideal base for exploring the New Forest, providing an affordable element of luxury.
Customer Service We were called by the hotel to check when we were arriving, this was around 8:30 in the evening, to check to see if we would need the door code to access the hotel if arriving late.
We were greeted by a young man who was efficient, but a bit impersonal, I think he wanted to get off home. Serving staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast
All the cooked options we very good quality. I was a bit disappointed that no croissants were offered with the continental breakfast. The breakfast is served in a conservatory over-looking the garden. We noticed there were a lot of birds in the garden, the hotel could put out some bird feeders to encourage the birds, they make good entertainment while you are having your lunch. Room
The room was well appointed, I paid a bit extra to have a view of the garden, which was well worth it. The bathroom although clean, was in need of decorating touch up. The TV was hard to operate, I couldn't find the TV guide on the remote. So gave up with it in the end. Location
The hotel is in the middle of the forest and the views out the window are lovely. There is a gate at the end of the garden which leads directly into the forest. In the publicity it shows a beautiful kitchen garden, unfortunately in March this wasn't being used. You are welcome to wander around the garden.
This is the second time visiting this hotel. I expect if we come to the New Forest again we will visit again.
THE WOODLANDS LODGE HOTEL
Clean tidy room and the staff were exceptionally friendly and enjoyable overnight stay with breakfast .
All good at Woodlands Lodge
The hotel staff were friendly and attentive.
The room was very comfortable, kingsize bed, spacious en suite bathroom and a wonderful view of the garden and New Forest. Easy to find, but hidden away from the busy life. We didn't eat an evening meal therw but breakfast was very nice.
Had stayed before and was happy to stay again.
Service was attentive and friendly without being intrusive. Room clean and tidy and pretty much everything I expected, based on previous stay. Only issue was that hotel stated that Lateroom bookings were always for room only but the Lateroom offer clearly stated that breakfast was included. Hotel included it anyway.
Lovely hotel in the middle of New Forest
Very picturesque hotel in a lovely setting.
The room was nicely decorated with a whirlpool bath and separate shower. The only downside to this hotel is that the family room is placed on the second floor directly above a number of standard double rooms (we stayed in room 5). The hotel is relatively old and therefore does not have any sound proofing, and the noise from the family room sounded as though there was a herd of very loud heavy footed elephants about to come through the ceiling. This went on all weekend and is not fun at 10pm when you've been travelling all day. The breakfast was freshly cooked and very good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would stay again but insist on not being near a family room!
Great hotel. Great food. Special mention to Chrissie the receptionist...great service ethic. If I had to give constructive criticism then would say decor needs a bit of a refresh, particularly room 18.
