nice hotel

we were in the Attic room and water dose not run up hill it took an age to run a bath but it was clean and food was good, The car being restored on the drive was off putting, my wife and I would stay here again but in a lower level.

Response from hotel

Thank you for saying that Blenheim Lodge is a ‘nice hotel’. However, could I just reiterate in this reply to your review that our accommodation is a Bed and Breakfast only and not a hotel so that any reader of your review and this response does not expect the facilities and ambiance of a hotel at our family home. What we aim to provide instead is a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere where guests can enjoy the tranquility that the Lake District is known for whilst simultaneously taking in the wonderful views of Lake and fells that can be seen from our guest rooms and lounge. We hope that our quiet location and the friendly and homely character of our B&B will enable guests, when they come to depart, to leave us feeling refreshed and energised as they return to the hubbub of their daily lives.

As this is also our home, our car is in the car park but it should not have affected your stay, especially since it was parked on a slight incline in our car park and would not have been a suitable parking space for your motorbike. Instead, we ensured you had level private ground to park your motorbike for the two nights you stayed and we noticed it never moved from the time you arrived until the time you left.

The room you chose to book is called The Attic because it is an attic room; and the description of The Attic clearly states that it has beams, Velux window, some height limitations in both the room and bathroom, etc. so you would have been aware that the room is at the top of the house . . . and, as you quite rightly point out, ‘ water does not run uphill’, which means that it would take time, of course, to fill a very deep large reproduction Victorian freestanding slipper bath, especially one that is approximately 2 feet in depth and pretty well as wide at its broadest section. I am sure that the baths were great to soak in!

Thank you for your positive comments on our cleanliness and food, and for saying that you would stay again.

Very helpful and accommodating owners who gave us a lovely welcome on arrival.

We stayed in the attic room. The room can feel quite quite small due to the sloping ceiling but it's spotless, comfortable, has everything you need and was just as described. Great location - easy walking distance to the town and lake and rooms very quiet. We had a really relaxing stay.

Room with a view

The room we had was small for a double room and the ensuite was particularly cramped it was difficult to bend over to wash and brush your teeth.

Other than that everything was very good the host was most welcoming and the view we had of the lake from was so good that we slept with the curtains open just to see it first thing in the morning.

Great Views

Nice rooms, friendly service and great view, we enjoyed staying at the Blenhein Lodge, we had no problem parking, it was quiet and relaxing, its a steep hill to walk from the centre back to the hotel, if you struggle you can get a taxi for £3.50, the restaurants and bars are very nice.

Great views

Just returned from a one night stay to visit friends and wanted to book a hotel in the centre of Bowness.

Room 2 although small was cosy and the cleanliness was spot on plus it had great views both up and down the lake, also the owners were very polite and friendly. Would recommend for price, friendliness and cleanliness however it is up a steep hill so take this into account.

Response from hotel

Thank you for coming to stay at Blenheim Lodge, our Bed and Breakfast, rather than a hotel as you mentioned. We are pleased that we were able to help with a free of charge change of date when you swopped your date of stay at the last minute so that you could still manage to meet up with your friends. The room you booked, Claife Heights, is a standard double room so it is not large but, as you have said, it does have stunning lake and fell views. One reason we have those views is of course our location on a hill top which we do mention in our Laterooms’ description and other online literature about our house. In fact, our Bed and Breakfast is so placed that one feels as if one is far away from everything, yet everything is actually very close at hand as it is only a short 5-10 minutes' walk to Bowness centre and its amenities, Lake Windermere and Bowness Pier. By the way, there are two ways up the hill to our Bed and Breakfast: one is the steep one, and another cuts out two-thirds of the hill. It is nice to know that you found us polite and friendly and ‘would recommend for price, friendliness and cleanliness’. We hope to welcome you both back another time soon.

Relaxing by the Lake

The Lodge had the right amount of charm and warmth.

The owners were incredibly friendly, helpful and welcoming. The perfect place to relax come rain or shine. Great location for all the lakefront activities. Good selection of breakfast items too!
