Good Guest House close proximity to NEC, but may need ear-plugs !
Very Convenient Guest house for NEC visitors. 10 min drive.
Room 10, Top Floor (Attic room), was sufficiently appointed for my 2 night stay and sloping roof space well designed not to impose on room or head space. Room and house had a nice homely feel whilst maintaining the status of a good quality guest house.
Good Parking area, Good Breakfast, nice breakfast lounge room. Solid floors and stairs, so not much "movement noise" as people wandered about.
Few Things that did not put me off, but may other people may find annoying:
You can hear the (freight) trains going past at night, fortunately I always travel with ear-plugs and was able to use mine to deaden the noise. Bed mattress was a bit too hard and springy. Hot water a bit slow to get to top of house!
Else, All said and done, I would stay here again and recommend Hollies to other NEC visitors.

A place to lay your head.....
On arrival we were greeted very pleasantly by Paul. The room was compact but reasonably well decorated. Bedding was very clean, though lacked a mattress and pillow protectors. Out of 6 pillows in the room, only two were comfortable. Most were old and lacking in support and because of the lack of protectors, were hanging out of the pillow cases and not looking very nice at all.
The furnishings were mismatched, but served their purpose well though the sockets were extremely difficult to get to, to plug in the hairdryer and phone chargers etc. Definitely a crawling on the floor job. The lamp was a little dodgy. It kept going off because the fitting was loose. It also buzzed so we switched that off fairly sharpish.
The television was dated, had antenna on the top which provided only a reasonable signal, but most disappointingly, we only had BBC1. The freeview box simply didn't change channel. Now we weren't that fussed to be honest. We were in town for the Autumn Fair at the NEC and had simply booked somewhere close by that we could lay our heads.
The shower room was very compact. The toilet, using a saniflow system was dreadful. it didn't flush anything away, no matter how many times we tried. The shower was very good, a relatively new power shower, though you have to be super skinny or very flexible to actually get in the cubicle.
Towels were clean, though a little on the small side, but this seems to be the same in most budget - mid-priced places these days.
As for breakfast......well, that made our morning. My husband enjoyed thoroughly, a well cooked full English breakfast. I had requested some fruit with granola and natural yoghurt. Whilst fresh fruit wasn't supplied because of wastage issue, I was given some tinned grapefruit, along with the natural yoghurt, and granola which is apparently supplied as standard. Very happy indeed with the food.
The service at the breakfast table was swift. The giant teapot probably wasn't necessary lol, but you'd be extremely happy if you were a caffeine head.
This may sound like it's a rather negative review, but most things I've mentioned more so those arriving know what they're getting, rather than criticising to put people off going. We'd definitely stay again if we were heading back to the NEC. The price was fairly reasonable for the area, you got to park without paying for over-priced non-secure parking facilities like you do at many budget hotels, the service we received was superb, and it was perfectly situated for our trip.
