Reviews - The Hightae Inn

4Self Classified Small Hotel Ratings explained
High Road, Hightae, Lockerbie, DG11 1JS
The Hightae Inn is situated in the charming village of Hightae close to the River Annan. Our cosy family-run local hotel offers stylish accommodation as well as good beers, fine wines and great home cooked evening meals.

Hightae is only 10 minutes from the M74 at Lockerbie and a bit of a hidden gem. The surrounding countryside offers an abundance of footpaths (with The Annandale Way newly opened), river walks and quiet country lanes and is great for cycling.
The hotel is proving a great hit for overnight stop-overs if you are either heading North or South on holiday, to break up your journey.

Faultless
Mark and Morag were so welcoming, we felt at home straight away.
Had a great night. It was a stopover on our way back from holidaying in the Highlands.

Welcoming and Relaxing
This was an ideal place for a stopover on route to Glasgow although a little off the beaten track it was well worth the drive. The welcome was warm and the pub is a very pleasant place to relax and eat. The food was excellent both dinner and breakfast. I think my only negative comments would be that although the room was nicely furnished, the bathroom was small (shower only, no bath). For a woman who wants to dry/straighten hair there was no socket located near a mirror so that was a little tricky. Also, I felt that the price for the room was a little high - I would expect a few extra special features for the £85 we paid. Having said all of that, I would recommend to other travellers and wish the lovely couple that are running this establishment every success - they both work very hard to make your stay a special one.

Many thanks for taking the time to post your review - we're glad you enjoyed your stay. It's such a shame re the en-suite thing as we actually do have a room with a bath in the hotel. We've just had a wee look at our listing as based on your comments we suddenly had a terrible feeling we were offering all of our en-suites with baths, however it's just the slightly smaller room which has the bath listed. We'll certainly take on board the socket/hair dryer/mirror issue and see what we can do.

Lovely, cosy place - would definitely stay again!
My partner and I stayed here for one night. We travelled down from Aberdeen to try out some horses. After being thrown from one of the horses I was very sore and just wanted to go home, we thought we would be courteous and drop in past to pay for our room and head home. However, we walked in and received a lovely warm welcome from Mark who showed us to our room. After the lovely welcome and seeing our beautiful cosy room we decided to stay as it felt so cosy and comfortable and despite the pain I was in I really wanted to sleep in the HUGE bed! We headed down to the bar and got a drink where Mark chatted away to us making us feel totally at home. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was very yummy, shame we had no room left for pudding as they also looked delicious!
Following a great nights sleep, we had a shower (which was spotless) and headed for breakfast which was again - delicious! Mark's wife then popped in to say hello with their new puppy! She was so warm and welcoming - we wanted to stay another night!
All in all we would definitely recommend this hotel. It was clean, cosy, comfortable and the owners are the most friendly, accommodating people we have come across in a long time!

The Hightae Inn - a gem just off the M74
A warm welcome on arrival. The room was spacious, well appointed and comfortable.
Dinner was served in the bar, with an interesting menu and a high standard of local produce. I opted to sample the local bottled beer (which was very drinkable) and there is also a broad selection of malts available. Breakfast the following morning set me up for the day.
Highly recommended and I look forward to staying again.

Overnight stay October weekend
Tried in the past to book a room, always full. Now know why. Very warm, friendly welcome from the Inn Keeper. Room was spotlessly clean, very cosy and comfortable. We had an evening meal, which was delicious, served in the bar, which had a lovely warm and friendly feel.
The breakfast did not disappoint, fresh food cooked and served at its best.
We will definitely be back.
