Reviews - The Hightae Inn

4Self Classified Small Hotel Ratings explained
High Road, Hightae, Lockerbie, DG11 1JS
The Hightae Inn is situated in the charming village of Hightae close to the River Annan. Our cosy family-run local hotel offers stylish accommodation as well as good beers, fine wines and great home cooked evening meals.

Hightae is only 10 minutes from the M74 at Lockerbie and a bit of a hidden gem. The surrounding countryside offers an abundance of footpaths (with The Annandale Way newly opened), river walks and quiet country lanes and is great for cycling.
The hotel is proving a great hit for overnight stop-overs if you are either heading North or South on holiday, to break up your journey.

Lovely, cosy place - would definitely stay again!
My partner and I stayed here for one night. We travelled down from Aberdeen to try out some horses. After being thrown from one of the horses I was very sore and just wanted to go home, we thought we would be courteous and drop in past to pay for our room and head home. However, we walked in and received a lovely warm welcome from Mark who showed us to our room. After the lovely welcome and seeing our beautiful cosy room we decided to stay as it felt so cosy and comfortable and despite the pain I was in I really wanted to sleep in the HUGE bed! We headed down to the bar and got a drink where Mark chatted away to us making us feel totally at home. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was very yummy, shame we had no room left for pudding as they also looked delicious!
Following a great nights sleep, we had a shower (which was spotless) and headed for breakfast which was again - delicious! Mark's wife then popped in to say hello with their new puppy! She was so warm and welcoming - we wanted to stay another night!
All in all we would definitely recommend this hotel. It was clean, cosy, comfortable and the owners are the most friendly, accommodating people we have come across in a long time!

The Hightae Inn - a gem just off the M74
A warm welcome on arrival. The room was spacious, well appointed and comfortable.
Dinner was served in the bar, with an interesting menu and a high standard of local produce. I opted to sample the local bottled beer (which was very drinkable) and there is also a broad selection of malts available. Breakfast the following morning set me up for the day.
Highly recommended and I look forward to staying again.

Overnight stay October weekend
Tried in the past to book a room, always full. Now know why. Very warm, friendly welcome from the Inn Keeper. Room was spotlessly clean, very cosy and comfortable. We had an evening meal, which was delicious, served in the bar, which had a lovely warm and friendly feel.
The breakfast did not disappoint, fresh food cooked and served at its best.
We will definitely be back.

Excellent reviews directed us to the Hightae Inn and thats exactly what our stay was, excellent in every respect. lovely Hosts, quality accommodation, a well stocked bar with every whisky you could imagine and superb food which surely must be worthy of an accolade alone. Book your evening meal with your room as dining was very popular. Highly recommended, we look forward to staying again.

A LOVELY OVERNIGHT
We decided to book an overnight at this Inn on the strength of the flattering reports from other travellers - and we weren't disappointed. The room was more than adequate, the meal was simply splendid, and we took an instant liking to our Host and Hostess. Mark and Morag made us feel at home from the moment we arrived, and it turned out to be one of those overnights that you promise yourself you'll repeat before too long. The problem with being too flattering in submitting these reports, is that we just encourage others to snap up the rooms to the detriment of ourselves.
