Weekend break in Brecon Beacons

A nice hotel located in a small town that is ideally situated for exploring the Brecon Beacons.

The room we stayed in was clean and tidy with a good bathroom. Wifi in the room was very good. Breakfast was good with locally sourced produce. Also ate in the evenings and the food was equally good. Stayed with my wife to do a little walking and would recommend it as a base for exploring the area.

Good value accommodation with excellent food

We stayed for 1 night on a short walking break to the Brecon Beacons and the hotel met our needs exactly.

We had a superior room which was large room with a comfy bed and a separate sitting/TV area. We ate in the restaurant in the evening - food was very tasty and generous portion sizes and washed down with perfectly acceptable real ale from the bar. Breakfast was excellent, particularly the locally produced bacon and the scambled eggs which many hotels overcook. The hotel owner was chatty and very pleasant. The decor is a bit tired in places and could possibly do with a refresh, but given the price paid we had no complaints and would stay again on a future trip.

Very welcoming

Excellent welcome, very friendly people in the bar that seemed like locals.

Room smelled a little damp but you didn't notice after you'd been in it a while. Shower wasn't the best water flow & I found it too hot. We had a meal one evening that was really good quality & price. Very good quality breakfast.

Bathroom cleanliness

Excellent food and nice old pub.

However the ensuite bathroom was very tired. It had mould, and an ammonia smell. This is a shame as the pub and the food is really good.

Brecon Break

We visited in the low tourist season but despite this we were made to feel very welcome and our host was very helpful with the local area.

The room was very comfortable and God very good. From the outside the hotel could do with some refurbishment as could some of the interior. However once inside our stay was very good

Castle Coaching Inn

I think the bedrooms need to be decorated.

There was stains on the bedroom floor. The shower was tiny. Not very welcoming just show you your room and ask do we want a table for food and what time does we want breakfast. It was not worth the money. As I was expecting better. Won't be staying here again.
