Good location with narrow access roads for about a mile, but beauteous drive.
We were in Room 4 which is just above the kitchen exhaust and despite it being a warm day, our window got fogged up from kitchen fumes coming up. Not to mention the quite loud noise, especially since we had to keep the window open. The noise stopped only after 10 pm when the kitchen closes. Avoid room 4. Otherwise good room and shower. The window though could be larger and lower, the window being high from floor meant one could not enjoy the exterior unless you specifically peeped out of the window.
The hotel was in a great location surrounded by fields and hills.
The staff were very pleasant and helpful.
The rooms were spacious, clean and quiet.
The food was delicious - a bit pricey but you could tell that good quality ingredients were used so we didn't mind. Our only very minor complaint would be that we would have liked to have had a choice of the whole breakfast menu within the price of the room as we fancied the scrambled eggs and the muffins but they were charged on top of the continental breakfast and we couldn't eat both.
We would definitely stay again!
One for the elder generation
Lovely staff, check the location closely before booking, very out of the way
Decor and feel will no doubt appeal to the elder generation, felt a little residential home for my tastes
Decent enough stay for the money.
Beautiful building and very picturesque setting, although car required as it's a bit off the beaten track.
Very nice settings, comfortable, clean and staff are brilliant.
Alway's stay here when visiting Wales.
As the song goes, "we'll keep a welcome in the hillside", and this gem of a place does every time.
Short break in beutiful location
The customer service was very good but sometimes a little to slow, all the staff were very friendly and the young man who was serving in the restaurant but unable to serve at the bar as he was only 17 was very polite, there was also a young lady on our first evening and following morning who not only ran the most efficient shift she also had a great approach with customers (unfortunately I don't recall her name but she had) , the accommodation was cleaned every day in all areas.
The building was lovely and full of character even having been modernised in places, our room although nice with an aim to keep it period but would benefit from a little TLC. Food was very good although the al-a-cart menu was a little salty for my personal taste. The location was stunning.
Another very pleasant stay at this gem of a country hotel.
Within striking distance of Cardiff - and surprisingly easy drives into the city for meetings with a 9am start - but very much a country retreat. Excellent and imaginative food; pleasant and helpful staff.
Last minute reservation surprise
I booked last minute, not knowing exactly what to expect, having stayed in the area already a couple of times.
This was a real gem of a find - excellent value , wonderful service and good breakfast. The room was very comfortable (+ excellent value) and the surrounding views outstanding. I only wished that I had thought to book earlier for lunch in their restaurant (fully booked... Unsurprisingly!). I would definitely stay there again...!!!
Good for families
Had a pleasant couple of days, staff dealt very well with one awkward member of our family.
Lovely place quite and peaceful.
Excellent service excellent stay
