Lovely little hotel
Our room was in the annex which looked a bit run-down.
However, you should 'never judge a book by its cover' as the room was very nice indeed - nicely furnished and everything we expected. It would appear that the room (and bathroom) have recently been up-dated, however, the shower was a little 'hit and miss' as the pressure wasn't consistent but that was our only little 'niggle'. We enjoyed a very nice breakfast with plenty of choice.
Very happy with our stay
My husband and I booked the hotel for our first anniversary.
The room was pleasant and clean. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Our sat nav didn't take us to the hotel however it was next to the toll bridge which did make access a little difficult on time when some drivers blocked up the access. Our only complaint was the tv would not keep the signal so when we wanted to have a glass of wine and a quite night in,the TV was not an option. Breakfast was lovely, well cooked and very nice. We would definately stay again at the hotel, there were pleasant walks along the canal and we were only a 10 minute drive from Bath city centre.
Cheap rate does not excuse poor accommodation!
The Old Mill is in a beautiful location.
Bath was our home for many years and so we had good memories of the place. However, we had a room in the 'lodge' which are basically stacked portocabins that would at one time have been staff accommodation. The quality of the rooms was very poor. We found a previous occupants underwear on the floor - hard to miss as there was literally no space in the room around the bed. We couldn't put the overnight case anywhere and had to keep it in the wardrobe. The heating was on a time which couldn't be changed - freezing when we arrived but came on in the early hours to 31 degrees and couldn't be switched off. We fried until we got up and could open the door. No plug in the bathroom sink and the shower water didn't empty away. We asked to be moved but the hotel was full and when we mentioned the accommodation were told that's why it was such a cheap rate. We had a drink in the bar but didn't eat in the hotel. The menu did look promising though. We ate over the road which was great. The breakfast in the hotel the following morning was the usual buffet style and was fine. We were told that the hotel is being refurbished and I hope they demolish the 'lodge' before it does any more damage to their reputation.
Very pleasant convenient hotel
Lovely hotel in a good location.
A nice walk into Bath or catch a bus. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was good and pretty view from dining room of canal. Room was comfortable.
Excellent Customer Service
I enjoyed my stay at The Old Mill Hotel as it was friendly, clean and comfortable.
My room wasn't particularly large but it was well equipped and comfortable. I would have liked a bath tub, but the shower was scrupulously clean and powerful. Breakfast was also good quality, and the meal I had at the linked Italian restaurant was great value for money. However, where the hotel really excelled was the customer service I received when my car broke down the following morning. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, initially trying to jump-start it for me and then inviting me back inside for a coffee whilst I awaited the AA. What could have been an incredibly stressful morning was made that much easier by staff going above and beyond. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Basic but good standards and staff
We stayed for one night in January 2016 and were very happy with the standard of the accommodation for the price paid.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was basic but functional. The location would have been great in the summer by the river. We caught the bus into Bath city centre and the journey was quick and easy.
Don't go there
The location is great, not too far from Bath centre at all, however...the actual hotel is a disgrace.
You can tell from the reception that the hotel is everything but clean - smell of dirt and old, broken furniture...I'd rather add £50 and go to a clean and decent hotel. £75 is not that cheap, I was expecting better, cleanliness should really be the minimum!!!
Arrived early staff friendly gave good advice in respect of transport into city.
Every member of the staff was helpful.
fair hotel for the price
nicely situated by a weir, rooms good quality, food good quality nicely presented (quite a few items not available) even when they knew hotel full
Beautiful location. Small room but ok value for money.
Pros: Lovely location.
Close to a great 20-30 mins canal walk into town. Comfy bed. Nice bathroom. Close to public transport. Cons: thermostat turned way up- couldn't turn down. Had to open window at night. Shower confusing. Small room but that's ok.
