Delightful stay at Kincraig Castle Hotel
My wife and I had a most enjoyable stay at the hotel and find it difficult to find any serious fault.
A minor fault was the poor lighting in the guests' lounge because although there was a fine selection of reading material we could not find sufficient light to read comfortably. Too much light would spoil the atmosphere but careful placing of lamps would overcome the problem. The meals and service were very good and the hotel proved to be in an ideal position for exploring Ross-shire, Sutherland and adjoining counties.
Rare weekend away with friends
The Kincraig Castle was chosen for its traditionally Scottish feel and luxury credentials and it did live up to most of it.
The staff were very helpful and friendly although the Dalmore Dram (as advertised) did not appear as promised but not too fussed about that. The (upgraded) room was vast but could do with new curtains - as could the rest of the hotel. The communal lounge area/hall was good for relaxing with a drink but the fire was only on one of the nights we stayed which was disappointing. We only ate in the bar and although the menu was limited, it was good food. Breakfast was good and nothing was too much trouble. The gardens and views were lovely but overall the interior could do with a bit of a birthday. Slight mix up with the bill but it was sorted very easily and apologies made. Overall a good stay and perfect for a relaxing break with friends.
