A pleasant stay

All of the staff were very nice and helpful.

The corner room I was given was great as it had a lot of light and plenty of space. The Mercure has a great central location whilst being quiet (my stay was on a Monday night). I have stayed at posher hotels but paid more and in this sense the Mecure was very good value for money. This time was for business but I would definitely go back for leisure.

First time stay

found the hotel reception difficult to find by car, had to call twice.

Was not aware when I booked that the parking was £25 per night. Booked a room for three and when we got to our room found it only had one bed and had to go back down to reception to get the room changed. Hotel accepted responsibility for the mistake. Room was average, not really any better than a premier inn, cold water tap in our bathroom wouldn't run cold which made for an unpleasant tooth brushing experience. Later on in the morning it did run colder. Not sure what went on there. Was also not aware when booking that a credit card was needed at check in with £50 taken to be held in case of room damage. Overall not worth the hassle. Yes it is a nice hotel right in the middle of the city but it is nothing special.
