Great place to stay

I nearly didn’t stay here because of some of the negative reviews I’d seen.

What a mistake that would have been it’s an excellent old pub full of character and in a great location with the rooms overlooking fields and two patios to sit out on and enjoy the peace and quiet. The beer is fantastic with a wide choice and the food was great – I went for a couple of the bar tapas dishes having already had lunch but next time (and I will be back!) I’ll go for something off the extensive main menu. Breakfast was freshly cooked with the best sausages I’ve ever tasted. Rooms are fine – they aren’t 5 star but you aren’t paying that sort of price, they are warm, functional and seem to be well insulated from any pub noise.

Business trip over a weekend.

The hotel is friendly but the rooms require refurbishment.

We left the hotel at 0735 on the Sunday morning and with there being no staff on hand I paid over the phone without a problem. The problem has come about with trying to get a receipt. After several phone calls and E-mails, I am still in a situation of having no receipt. Due to the hassle this has caused myself I would not recommend staying at this hotel.
