Character and charm.

Set in a Great location, this "well-loved" but by no means shabby hotel shows it's age, but is characterful and welcoming.

I'd pick it over an impersonal and tacky new-build every time. The price was certainly right, the sheets and towels were very clean and The shower hot and strong. Smallish room was saved by a very high ceiling - so you don't feel the size. Love staff.

so disappointing

For the money it cost the room was not up to standard at all.

I had heard such lovely things about this hotel and was really looking forward to my stay.

The radiators were broke, they had put a blow heater in the room, so obviously knew they werent working. but it wasnt enough I was freezing trying to get ready for my night out.

Also there was no mirror in the bedroom therefore i struggled to use my straightners as the mirror was in the bathroom where there are obviously no plug sockets.

i will not be staying here again and I have told people exactly what this hotel does NOT have to offer.

I am so very sorry Lian did not enjoy her room – we are a small quirky hotel.

She was booked in our smallest room but it has a lovely big bathroom with clawfeet bath.

I note her requirement for a big mirror, thank you I will do this.

There had unfortunately been a power cut in the area which then brought down our gas heating for an evening.

This affected all the surrounding hotels too. This was rectified over night and as soon as we were aware of it we tried everything to make our guests comfortable.

We always try really hard to look after our guests, she did not bring any of this to our attention as I could have moved her to our flat if we knew she was not happy.
