As Janelas Verdes Inn
Recommended by Condé Nast Johansens
Our inspector loved "The cosy, homely ambience."
This 18th century palace is next to the National Ancient Art Museum. With its small garden and the top floor library overlooking the river, this mansion transmits a romantic and welcoming feeling. The rooms are sunny and cheerful and the Tagus is close by.
The house, like the street of the same name, deserves to be discovered slowly, little by little, all the time savouring its gentle, romantic, welcoming atmosphere.
Eça de Queirós, the famous Portuguese novelist, is connected to the hotel by tradition and there are those who say that he lived and found inspiration here in this palace for another magical home - "O Ramalhete" in his novel "Os Maias".
The memory of his presence is still very much alive in the atmosphere we find ourselves immersed in: small objets d'art, books, paintings and mementoes take us back to another era now being relived.
The rooms are sunny and cheerful. The Tagus is close by. One feels good here…
When Spring arrives, the days begin with a wonderful breakfast served in the garden while you breathe in the calm of an older Lisbon where it still feels good to feel love.
The Janelas Verdes has a vast range of services to offer you, such as the buffet breakfast in the “Maias” room or in the garden, the library with its view out across the Tagus, honour bar, 24hr room service, porterage, same-day laundry service, free high speed wireless internet access, free use of computer and printer with internet access, DVD library, concierge and turndown service.
