About the hotel

The Harrison family have run The Ship since 1982. We offer you a warm welcome to our original, 3 Star Village Inn located just a few metres from the beach. The picturesque seaside village of Aberdaron is located right at the tip of the Lleyn Peninsula, North West Wales, UK.

The village is within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty as well as Heritage Coastline. Much of the nearby coastline is also owned and managed by the National Trust. Aberdaron is the last stop on the pilgrims' route to Ynys Enlli (Bardsey Island), which is said to be the resting place of 20,000 saints! Visit Aberdaron and enjoy fabulous coastal walks, fishing trips, sightseeing boat trips and fun on the beach. End your day with some tasty homemade food, fine ales (we are in the 2012 Good Beer Guide!) and a great night's sleep at the Ship Hotel. Come and visit us for a truly relaxing break!

A wonderful hotel

Everything was excellent, an exemplar of how an hotel should be run.

Absolutely shocking.

We booked to stay in this hotel last night (booked yesterday through late rooms). We live 123 miles away so do not know the area at all. When we were approx 30 minutes away I rang the hotel as I had guessed our time of arrival at about 8 on the booking form but it was 8 and we had half an hour to go. I rang the hotel at 8.06pm to let them know that we were about half an hour away to be told by the manager that there was no room booked for us. He was very rude on the phone and I explained we had booked and paid for room and had a booking ref number. He said 'look im busy and there is nothing I can do, we dont have any room for you'. So I asked if he would provide accommodation for us elsewhere as we had come a long way and had no where to stay and he said ' no everywhere is chock a block so there is nothing I can do, ring back in ten minutes, im busy' and he put the phone down. We were amazed by this and had travelled such a long way (it was a rare night away without the children so a real treat for us). I went on to ring late rooms who also rang the hotel. the chap from late rooms tried his best but rung us back and said the manager was being anything but helpful even with him, and he is supposed to honour the booking as it had gone through and provide us with some alternative accommodation, which he was refusing to do. My partner rang the hotel back and was a little more upfront than I was and he was then offered a single room for us, which of course was not a good enough alternative. By this time we had already turned around as he had already told us there was nothing there for us so there was no point in carrying on and wasting more petrol. We were very disappointed and eventually found a room in Llandudno after walking around in the rain asking in every hotel for a room. By the time we found one after nearly walking around for 2 hours like drowned rats it was that late there was no where still serving food for a nice evening meal like we planned. The whole night was a disaster and a waste of money on petrol, accommodation, babysitter etc. Very disappointed by this and especially the attitude and lack of help from the hotel when it was there mistake that put us in that situation and they did nothing to rectify this.
