About the hotel
Ashlea is a 2 storey holiday home which is attached to the owners detached property. It is completely self contained with its own front door It has underfloor heating throughout, fitted kitchen, lounge, Bathroom, bedroom with twin oak beds for 2 adults (no children allowed and the beds can not be made into a double) Positioned on a quiet lane with Cracken Edge on our doorstep, we have an elevated position, in addition we have far reaching views from our south facing private balcony at the rear of the property looking towards Eccles Pike and beyond. Plenty of parking available on the lane directly outside.
Ideal For Walkers, Cyclists and a perfect retreat for Business or Leisure stays. There are abundabce of Walks/Cycle routes available taking in some of the High Peaks unique villages. The property is within a short stroll of the villages local amenities and has a direct train route to the cosmopolitan cities of Manchester and Sheffield, yet is situated close to and surrounded by some of The Peak Districts most stunning scenery. The ground floor accommodation consists of a fitted kitchen with oven, hob, hood, fridge/freezer, table and chairs, crockery, glassware and cutlery. The south facing living room has a leather suite with remote control reclining facility a wall mounted TV, DVD player, CD/radio player, Ipod docking station and a private south facing balcony with table and chairs. Upstairs the bedroom has 2 single beds for 2 adults, fitted wardrobe, A fully tiled bathroom with full size bath, WC, large modern sink fitted into an oak cabinet, bed linen, bath and hand towels. The whole of the property has underfloor heating run from an air source heat pump. In the evening why not relax and have a stroll down into the village and visit The Old Hall at Whitehough this 16th Century Inn with its Minstrel gallery is a great country pub with an award winning selection of local ales and fabulous food.

A nice chilled place
A lovely apartment built onto the owner's house.
Very clean and reasonably equipped with an exquisite view across the valley. Arrive to find an 'out of order' notice on the shower, which was a big deal for us as we like a shower. However, bath worked fine.
Also be careful in the bedroom. If you're over 5'9" you won't be able to sit up in bed due to the roof slope, and mind you don't crack your head like i did when coming back to bed in the night following a pee . . . and no I wasn't drunk lol. I found the sign in the kitchen threatening a cleaning charge if the premises weren't left as found quite threatening. I'm happy to leave the place clean and tidy, but defy not spending my last couple of hours washing the floor. The premises are situated up a quiet lane and the only noise really are the infrequent trains through the valley. The apartment was clean, bright and really extremely pleasant. Out host met us on arrival and explained how everything worked, where everything was, and what was available in the town. I must recommend the chip shop - not really one for fish n chips but it was awesome. Apart from my grumps above, I would recommend Ashlea and would return.
I would just like to say, we do not expect anyone to wash the floor before departing, there are no flooring cleaning materials in the apartment.
Our hotel details do say, bathroom with bath, no mention of a shower.
Some people leave our home in a disgraceful manner on departing, bins full of rubbish, half opened food packets left in cupboards or the fridge, dirty pots and pans and cooking equipment the list goes on.
The sign in the kitchen does say "Polite Notice" which I don't think is threatening at all and just advises that we reserve the right to charge extra if the holiday home is not left clean and tidy, it is after all self catering accommodation.
