It has an attractive quiet stream-side location, with a summer house, and adjacent camping site and is central to most of North Wales' attractions. Approx 50 mins from the north coast, 30 mins from the west coast, and approximately an hour to Snowdon.
The National White Water and Rafting centre is 5 mins away by car. The rather unusual (but fantastic) B&B
Our stay at Ridley's Residence will definitely stay in good memory.
We stayed for one night while visiting snowdonia national park. The man who owns the place and runs the B&B on his own is absolutely lovely and nice. After our arrival he immediately offered tea and we had a nice chat. He also knew a lot about the area and could give us some useful advice on what places to visit. The house is located on the countryside near the village Bala. It is not like you would imagine a usual B&B, it is more like staying at a friend's place. The place is a little bit untidy, but in no way filthy. The room has more than everything you need. We shared a bathroom with another room, which was no problem at all. The atmosphere was quite familiar which was nice. It was not as reserved as in other B&Bs. Although I imagine this is not everybody's cup of tea, we liked it a lot.
The breakfast was fantastic and the man even took the effort to prepare a delicious breakfast without meat for us vegetarians. There is a little camping site next to the house and lots of space to park the car. Summed up, this place was a unusual but pleasant alternation to the rather clinical and impersonal B&Bs you would usually get.
Not bad at all
On arrival found the accommodation very much "take us as you find us" and by no means "make sure you wipe your feet when you come in".
Room was basic with all requirements although the wash basin was very small and the en-suite facilities very much on a DIY basis. However no complaints at all regarding the comfort of the room and welcoming attitude of Carey who was so affable and the breakfast provided was excellent value for money. Noticeable that the camp site in the adjacent field was well attended and their was a regular queue for the take away breakfast available. Overall, initial apprehension became a very comfortable stay with fond memories of the host.
