In the mid 90's the Trooper faced closure and conversion to a housing development, but was rescued from this fate by the wholehearted opposition of the villagers, who objected to losing their local watering hole. It was at this time that the present owners took over and embarked on the regeneration of this wonderful pub. In the years since, the Trooper has built an enviable reputation for the quality of its food and drink, as well as for the excellent level of service and welcoming atmosphere.
The hotel is open all year round (with a slightly reduced service on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day).
The restaurant & bar is open from Monday evening until Sunday lunch (closed Sunday evening & Monday lunch with the exception of Bank Holiday weekends when our bar & restaurant is open for lunch on Bank Holiday Mondays and closed in the evening).
