Fantastic gem of a hotel!
A very last minute booking led to us finding this charming hotel.
Definitely one of the best I have ever stayed in. Very comfortable cosy and spacious room, charming and helpful staff, and a lovely secluded area. Will definitely stay here again!
Disgusting & Dangerous - Damp room and bed (in August!) -cut foot on something sharp in the carpet!
I am an experienced traveller for business and leisure.
I booked the day before then on the day got an email telling me they were closed so don't arrive til after 4. I arrived about 8.15pm. Was shown a letterbox for keydrop to make sure they did not have to see me again and taken across a courtyard to a room that looked OK. Was shown 3 radiators so I could adjust heating but with comment that I wouldn't need it. I unloaded car and found yale lock to outer door loose and own inner door lock poor with broken key chain. The kettle worked and the tv did once I had fiddled with controls as they were so old the markings had worn off. It was so small the picture was difficult to see from the bed even with my up to date prescription. - It was chilly like no-one had stayed in it for a while so I decided to turn radiators on for a bit. I had been lied to. There was no heating!. The bed would have been comfy had the bedding not felt damp. Lying in bed I could see a damp patch on the wall with the bathroom. The bathroom was big but the bath dirty and the sound of next doors fan and toilet roll holder were bad and sleep disturbing. It was an old stone building so I had no mobile signal. In the morning I was just ready to go and mistakenly went to walk across the room barefoot to my shoes and felt something stab me. I had to pull a shard of glass or maybe a staple from my foot and stem the bleeding before I could leave this place. I have this as a memento - I only paid a discount rate but it was not worth it.
