lovely apartments, ruined by the awful restricted wifi
We booked this for the night so we could have a night away from the children. It was easy enough to book in, and the apartment itself was ok.
However...
upon logging into the wifi it was quickly apparent that the signal was horrific. There was one place in the whole apartment where you got enough signal to load up web pages, but even then it took a good five mins for each page.
There is also a content lock on the wifi, which the apartment managers do not tell you about. Meaning that if you want to visit ANY web pages it thinks might not be suitable for those over 18, you cant.
I personally feel this is ridiculous. I have never stayed anywhere where you are limited so greatly.

ManagementResponse

When the guest contacted us, they were standing outside the apartments in Annandale Street, instead of coming directly (as detailed on confirmation instructions on agent site) to the Abbey Hotel to pick up the keys. I gave detailed directions, they were walking, but seemed fine, and I checked them in, went through everything, including if there were any problems, just to give us a call straightaway. The reason for the stay was that they a teething baby, and needed a break (a family member was looking after the children) and were going to catch up on sleep. I am disappointed to read the negative comments, and I'm not sure which signal they were using, we have 2 routers, one for the lower floors and one for upper, as our other guests in the building seemed to be fine. We also reset the routers twice a week, check that we can log onto the internet. We have many business guests who prefer the apartments and make full use of the Wi-Fi, and seem to be able to utilise the service with no problems. Again, occasionally, just as in one's own home, routers need to be reset, especially if there are a number of people using the Wi-Fi at the same time. As far as I am aware there is no content lock on the Wi-Fi, other guests have downloaded films, and have not reported problems. However, if the content was deemed very inappropriate, as mentioned, adult sites were being attempted to access, then it is entirely possible our internet provider blocked this, depending on the severity of what was to be shown. We take the convenience and comfort of our guests seriously, but if we are not informed at the time, there is nothing we can do. I would have liked to have had the opportunity of at least being able to rectify the situation, but was not given this courtesy, not even a phone call or an email to advise their dissatisfaction, I had to find out about it, not on just one review site, but also the agent site.

Dated apartment but clean
The apartment was clean but very dated, we were able to park our car which was great and we were only a fifteen minute walk to the centre of edinburgh.

Central enough. Good for 4, but we were 5 and pull our bed not the most comfortable.
Wifi didn't work on arrival, and we had to wait until the next day for it to be reset. Very helpful, informative service otherwise.

Excellent accommodation in central location. Highly recommended.
The apartment was appointed exactly as we would have wished with an excellent location. It represented particularly good value as we were travelling with young children so were able to cook meals and put them to bed in their own room at night. Highly recommended.

midweek break in Edinburgh
Apartment was ideal for us and quite well equipped in the kitchen - there was even a dishcloth, 2 tea towels and some washing u liquid. Plenty of towels and bedding for 4 people. The twin beds in the twin room are very long which makes it less easy to move round them to get to the window. Bedding, linen and towels were freshly clean. Some items in the kitchen needed a bit of a wipe before use - the tray and the oven tray had crumbs on. Apartment felt secure and car park was a private car park.
