Prices Street Suites 1 bed Apartment
Where to start? I suppose if you're reading this you're considering booking one of these apartments. I'll make it easy for you and suggest you definitely should. Not one to merely force an opinion down your throat (although I regularly force onions down peoples throats) I shall now tell you why.
This looks really long but lets face it, you're at work and need a distraction anyway. I'll tell you everything I wanted to know when I booked.
When you first arrive you will be slightly tired. Don't worry, that will just be because your journey was a long one, after all, if you lived near you wouldn't be spending this kind of cash to stay in Edinburgh, right? You'll be tired but that's OK, because the Suites are within 5 minutes of Waverley station. Perfect! Upon arrival you will be greeted by an innocuous looking building which is right next to the road (more on this later) and now thinking about it that is all I have to say about the outside so lets pretend this was a well written description. Inside, the reception......people.....were very nice! Its a simple thing, you say Hello and why you are there then you pay and take your keys. We got offered a key each and we also got given Wi-fi codes, which incidentally are free. After collecting our keys.....wait, sorry. I keep saying "we". I'm referring to me and my girlfriend. She's lovely, just so you know. Anyway, we got our keys and trooped off to find our apartment to which is a surprisingly exciting time, especially when you get told you are in room 12 and assume its further away from the entrance than it is. And this, my friend, is the only problem I'll talk about with this place. Apartment 12. Apartment Twelve. (said twice for dramatic effect.) You see, the thing is Apartment 12 is the one you'll walk past on the road at the start and joke to your partner "Gee, I hope we don't end up in there. Haha!" I'm building this up and you're sitting thinking it's something really really bad. It's not really, its just slightly disappointing. This apartment sits right on the road at ground level so there is no view at all from your living room. You'll have your blinds down the entire time but for me this is not really a problem as it's one of those things you'll only be annoyed at if you really want to get a good view of the city found at the rear of the building.
That aside, what hits you when you walk in is how big it is! The ceilings are huge, probably the first thing that struck me as I hail from your usual working class background when high ceilings are typically associated with those posh houses you'd maybe visit when you were young for some reason. Its certainly a good first impression. Instinctively your first reaction is to "oooo" and "ahhh" as you go exploring. I'll give you a little virtual runthrough of our apartment layout. When you first come in you enter a hallway which runs from left to right. To the right, is the main bathroom. It has all the usual things you would expect, although no bath robes, and no bath either. This was all perfectly clean, by the way. Back to the door, if you turned left you'd walk down to the bedroom which just before that has a little utility room with and iron and a washing machine. Handy if you're staying a while or are just a particularly sweaty fellow. Continuing into the bedroom, you'll find it is very well presented. The double bed itself is actually just two singles pushed together and in both its structure and the way it is dressed. I think that is the correct word. You dress a bed. Sort of. What I mean is that it has two single quilt covers. Again, very clean and comfortable. It also has storage in the form of two sets of bedside cabinets, a chest of drawers and a wardrobe which is built into the wall. There is a little lcd tv that swings out from the wall so you can watch tv in bed. One little thing that annoyed me slightly is that every door springs shut. Normally I prefer to leave everything open, mainly so I can get a feel for what it is like to be a ghost. This bedroom also had an en suite, which had a bath and a shower and sink and toilet.....you know how it goes. The usual. No bath robes though. I like bath robes, mainly so I can get a feel of how it feels to look like a ghost.
If we rewind back to the front door, if you walk straight on, you enter the living room and kitchen. I loved this. It's so well decorated and is just generally "cool". You look at this and just know it is cool. Maybe the dimmer switched lights had something to do with it. There are two couches, one is plush with cushions (those furry ones) and the other has none. My better half hinted it may be a sofa bed, then being a good boyfriend, I agreed. There is a tv, (Samsung LCD) with built in freeview and an iPod/iPhone docking station which not only is speakers for your iPod/iPhone, will also charge it too. Towards the kitchen there is a dining table. It is basically all the same room, just partitioned off to make a wall for the fridge/freezer and other units. Cooking wise there is a microwave and a fan over with the 4 hobs on top. You'll get all the cooking utensils you'll need although what I will say is it is stocked with enough of everything for however many people the room is booked for. Two people: two glasses, forks, knives, plates etc. Not a problem though. What is strangely strange though is that there were no baking trays for the oven. There was a tray you could make muffins in but no other, more practical one. Once you've eaten, there is a dishwasher there too. There is a minibar in your fridge although as expected, these cost cold hard cash. Cash almost as cold as your freezer.
I think that is pretty much it all covered in terms of your apartment. Yeah, that will do.
I'd highly recommend it though!

Studio or 1 bed apartment
As we checked in,reception informed us that the type of room we had booked wasnt available due to a maintenance problem. We were offered a studio room and I let reception know considering the short notice and the fact that we had already planned our day,we had no option other than to accept.
However we were eventually given a 1 bed apartment after a lengthy wait in reception and limited verbal communication/information.We have not experienced this situation before at these apartments.

Great Value
Great 2-bed suite, though view from our room at ground level not as good as higher floors. Queen beds a bit small but overall the accommodation exceeded our expectations. Location also well placed to stroll into heart of Edinburgh. Finding a parking space reasonably close by was difficult.

quiet break
We were upgraded to a 2 bedroom apartment. The accommodation was excellent in suite 8. Slight problem with heating thermostat but staff responded immediately to resolve it. Rooms were very quiet compared others staying in Princes Street. Our stay was for 2 nights. Suites very close to all shops etc Will definitely consider returning again especially in summer to sit on the roof terrace.

Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Edinburgh
This is my 3rd time at the Princes Street Suites and again it was terrific. Our 2bed apartment was near the spa area and had 2 full bathrooms and a huge living area. Great value for money and the staff cannot do enough for you. They happily looked after our bags after we checked out so we could enjoy our last day in Edinburgh. Cannot recommend it highly enough.
