Reviews - Lantern Guest House

3Self Classified Guest House Ratings explained
Lantern Guest House (3a), Lantern House, 3 Windsor Street, Edinburgh, EH7 5LA
Centrally located, very close to the Playhouse Theatre, Lantern Guest House is set up as 3 mini apartment style double bedded en-suite Rooms with pin code access. An additional small double bedded or single room with private bathroom is now available. A 3 minute walk from the Edinburgh's eastern hub (Omni Centre, John Lewis and Tram Terminus), and an 8 minute walk from Waverley Rail Station. The thick walls enhance quietness between guest rooms. Windsor Street is astonishingly quiet, being so city central. We do not offer breakfast or other meals, rather we encourage you to enjoy the bountiful cuisine very close by or buy food to eat in your Room (mini supermarkets and bakers very close by). A fridge, microwave oven, crockery and cutlery is provided. A hospitality tray is provided in each Room (with UHT milk), fresh milk being available in the fridge. We offer discounts for 3 or more night stays and for 2 or more Rooms booked. Please contact us direct. W.H. Playfair's signature corner style residence with it's thick walls and castle like turrets (viewed from Room 3) enhances quietness within and around Lantern House. We recognise the importance of sustaining the quality of cleanliness and comfort in our Guest Rooms. Guest rooms provide homely features: Hospitality tray, FreeView TV with DVD player, free high speed wifi, towels, hand soap, shower gel and shampoo and thermostatic heating control. Street parking at weekends is free 5.30pm Friday - 8.30am Monday, with free parking each evening - morning midweek. Otherwise 50p per 30 mins close by or free parking 10 mins walk away. We will be delighted to welcome you to Lantern House to enjoy our wonderfully cultural city.

Perfect place to stay for a short visit on a budget - the room was very small, but had everything we needed. The bed was comfy, and the bathroom facilities were decent. The owner was very friendly. Best thing of all about this place is the location - not bang in the centre, but really easy to get to on foot from the train station, and the city centre was only a short walk away. I would happily stay again.

A small room in a nice, centrally located guesthouse
The room was small, with no space for a proper table. Breakfast was not provided, but this was not a problem since we had access to crockery and a fridge (not in the room though), and the supermarkets are very close. The personnel was very friendly and helpful.

Lantern House Stay
Very pleasant stay, no complaints at all. The room was tidy and the location was ideal for visiting Edinburgh. We travelled by train to Waverley station, we found a rear entrance to the station which was about a 5 - 10 minute walk away. The near by Weatherspoons pub close to the Playhouse was excellent value for an evening meal.
