Excellent hotel in a great location with friendly staff and a clean, quiet room.
All in all a good value for money.
Great value hotel with contemporary style in an historic building.
The City Hotel is in the former maternity hospital on Lauriston Place.
On the outside it retains its historic appearance but inside has been well refurbished in a contemporary style. Our room was spacious, clean and well finished. Breakfast was perfectly adequate though not particularly special. The staff were all friendly and helpful . The only drawback was that it is a bit of a walk to the main shopping area around Princes Street and George Street though this is probably reflected in the fact that it is such good value.
Friendly and helpful staff
Lovely hotel, central, amazingly friendly staff always willing to help.
Lovely comfy bed and would definately stay there again. Loved it .
Situated not too far away from princes street, lovely really friendly staff, comfy beds, very clean, 24 hr check in which was super handy, But on the 2nd(the top floor) the rooms are quite small, slanted ceilings because of the shape of the building (not their fault but I would recommend asking for a lower floor, our heads got banged a few times)
Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would defo go back!!
Amazing hotel, I will be back!
I only have one word for this hotel - amazing.
From the minute we walked in the door off the very quiet rear courtyard the staff couldn't do enough for us. Check in was a breeze, our room very easy to locate and of a very high standard. The bed was very comfy, the room had plenty of storage and space and a 32" tv. Tea and coffee making facilities are equipped with a full sized kettle (thank you) and there was a hairdrier and a good selection of toiletries provided. Even the towels were of a decent size which I find rare in this price range, not to mention our bathroom had a bath plus shower and the hot water was both very hot and plentiful. We booked room only so I cannot comment on the food although other guests we spoke to highly recommended the breakfast. We did enjoy drinks in the bar (which is open 24hrs) and found all staff to be extremely friendly, polite and helpful especially General manager David. I was particularly impressed with the hotels WiFi which worked throughout the building including our room. Check out was simple and we took advantage of the left luggage room as we weren't departing Edinburgh until late afternoon. All in all I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay again without hesitation the next time I'm in Edinburgh.
